I have been working with a number of folks at AMP on the problem above and they said that Sierra Charts told them to tell me to post a support request in Sierra Charts to get this ironed out. So this is what I am doing. Could someone please let me know if there is a solution to this and the steps to make it happen. Thank you so much.

You can find the symbols in File >> Find Symbol >> CQG Indexes.

The symbol is X.US.SPC5. Open a chart for this symbol.

SPC5 is also listed but that is not valid. It will be removed.

If you still have a problem :
Follow the instructions here to clear the Message Log:
Message Log: Clearing the Message Log

Fully re-download the data in the chart by going to the chart and selecting "Edit >>Delete All Data and Download".

After about a minute provide a copy of the Message Log following these instructions:

You know we did tell AMP that your account may not be authorized for historical data and that is indeed the case:

HD Request # 5 | Error downloading historical Intraday data for X.US.SPC5. Instrument X.US.SPC5 (corresponding to ID = 2) is not allowed. Result=103. Num Quotes=0 | 2018-07-31 18:02:35

Or perhaps CQG does not provide historical data for this symbol. We are not really sure. In any case, you need to ask your broker about this.

You also have the option to use the Sierra Chart exchange data feed instead for these cash indices:

Ok I posted your response to an email to Victor at AMP regarding Historical Data - here is his response to your response to me from our email exchange:
Obviously something is broken somewhere, perhaps the next step is for one of your engineers to log onto my instance of Sierra Chart and actually see what is going on? Please see below:

Hello Michael,

Historical data is enabled on our end for your CQG setup, i would not understand why they say it does not stream on Sierra charts when working fine on other platforms.

Victor here is the last post I got after sending Sierra Charts my message log.

It has to do with historical data, please let me know your thoughts.

i would not understand why they say it does not stream on Sierra charts when working fine on other platforms.
That is because CQG is rejecting the request.

CQG has to answer what the problem is here.

Your broker needs to contact CQG with your CQG username and ask them why for a historical data request for that symbol this message is being returned:
Instrument X.US.SPC5 (corresponding to ID = 2) is not allowed. Result=103. Num Quotes=0

And why is it that real-time data is not being received for that symbol if that is the case as well.

Why CQG is making this so hard, is beyond belief. We gave up on this long ago. And that is why we were hesitant to get re-involved in these cash indices from CQG. It is a never-ending problem.

We could also ask CQG ourselves about this but we do not know your username and because clearly this is some kind of an authorization issue, only your broker with the help of CQG can resolve that. We have no control over that.

Honestly, this is totally insane. The very fact that CQG cannot even properly instruct amp on what to do and this goes on back and forth so long is ridiculous.

Why is it CQG is rejecting the data request and not providing the real-time data and historical data.

And why is it that years ago CQG just gave us the wrong symbol and only got the correct symbol a couple of months ago.

At this point we do not want to hear further about this, unless there are specific instructions from CQG as to something else we need to do. As of this point, we do not know what that is.

I have recently gotten into the middle of this and spoken with CQG directly regarding your post that CQG is rejecting the Symbol call. Ryan is a CQG support person, he said he needs the error messages in order to have Continuum API dev team look at the interface code... I forwarded the entire message log, the same one posted here.

I am hoping this is what is needed... stay tuned...

Email below is from Ryan at CQG to Continuum.

Hi Continuum,

Michael is using Sierra Charts and receiving an error when trying to pull data on SPC5. Can you please take a look at the below logs and see how this problem may be rectified? I know we have recently had trouble getting in contact with the Sierra developers, but they told Michael this is a CQG side issue. Please see the logs and let us know if there is any course of action on our part.

Michael and AMP are CC’d in this email.

Ryan

In this case what we want you to do is to have open only that one index chart and then follow through this procedure here and then we will give you the pieces of information that CQG will need.

Follow the instructions here to clear the Message Log:
Message Log: Clearing the Message Log

Reconnect to the data feed:
File Menu: Procedure to Reconnect to the Data and Trade Servers

After about 30 seconds, provide a copy of the Message Log following these instructions:

How in God's name can there be all of this discussion and all of this involvement of so many people over something so glaringly obvious and ridiculous. Your CQG account is not authorized for the symbol and nobody even knows that. That shows up as an on-screen message directly on the chart. It is right there in front of all of us. And the broker can see that because we would assume that they simply have not authorized your account properly. And to be clear, this is not a criticism of the user.

And then we saw nonsensical communication from CQG that they somehow have contacted us about this and we don't respond. What a load of complete nonsense.

So what do we have here. Total incompetency. We are not incompetent. That is why users get direct engineering support here. And when users accuse us of being rude or not communicating properly. We don't give a damn. That is taken is an overwhelming complement. Thank you. Thank you! This only exemplifies the truth of everything that we say.

And on top of this we got all this crap from the CME and their bull crap market data policies. Causing everyone to bow down and go through all kinds of ridiculous nonsense so they can fulfill their totally inefficient operation. We are publicly saying we have had enough of this god damn nonsense. And we are going to very publicly complain out loud. At how ridiculous and lunatic this policy is. Perhaps from their position they do it from a position of complete greed but it is causing so many detrimental side effects. And yes it is a bunch of God damn nonsense!!!. God damn nonsense. So in essence, this is abusiveness, and rudeness from the CME. And just a literal playing of games with all of us and making people jump through numerous hoops, literally, just to satisfy their ridiculous market data policies.

And a trading educator we work with, said the CME has gone fee crazy. Not just our opinion.

Why do we bring all of this up here in regards to CME because this is the underlying reason for all of these market data authorization problems. The tight control over market data leads to all of these problems and leads to a circumstance where those firms like CQG who get to be in a very dominant position and can afford to pay for the physical connectivity to the exchanges, become the only source of the data rather than us being a source of the data and being able to provide it reliably and easily. Of course we do provide CME data and cooperation with Barchart, but then there are all of these rules that have to be followed which make providing the service very difficult for us. And cause monumental frustration for users and make us look bad. So when we say God dammit, we mean God dammit we are sick and tired of this crap.

Anyway, rather than us complaining, we are working on new business opportunities for Sierra Chart. So the future is very good for us. That is certain. And we are going to be a leader, and bringing about change and alternatives for the markets. We certainly are not going to be a slave to the CME.

And screenshot this post and put on forums all over the Internet. Nothing will make us happier.

Just give us your CQG username as requested above and we will take care of this politely and clearly with CQG. Do not involve anyone else.

And we do not think this is some kind of bug or error that CQG needs to fix on their side . We have seen this too many times where brokers say a user is authorized for a particular exchange, repeatedly, and the user gets that very same message from CQG:
Market data subscription for X.US.SPC5 was unsuccessful. Text: Real-time data for instrument X.US.SPC5 (corresponding to ID = 1) are not allowed.

And it is something that is resolved by the broker with the help of CQG. What does this say about CQG market data authorization? obviously it is not a simple system. Ultimately the exchanges are to blame for that.

Even more shocking, you say you cannot even access CME real-time data in the subject line. This is really beyond belief.

So CQG has said this:

The only thing I can think of is whether or not the user is connecting to Sierra using the FIX or Webapi connection, though if he is properly seeing his CME data then it is not related to that. Unfortunately, regarding a similar issue with data, we have already reached out to Sierra’s developers to find the source of the issue and have heard nothing back.

Until their developers send us some logs or code detailing the issue, then our API team cannot solve the issue. You may want to encourage them to contact continuum@cqg.com but our previous attempts to do so have been unsuccessful.
Market data can only come through the CQG web API connection. So the question about FIX is just not relevant. We have never heard anything from CQG. They never reached out to us.

And once again this is not the first time. This has been the case so many times before. CQG does not need anything else. They have more than sufficient information. But anyway we pointed out the relevant message. But that should be so obvious to them anyway.

My CQG username is MWhited

Here is what I think the problem is...

They are referring to symbol SPC5 in their API code to authorize

The symbol that is being input and should be authorized is X.US.SPC5

If they change their call from SPC5 to X.US.SPC5 all will work smoothly.

This is what is wrong with this, I sent them this message

Okay, maybe that is the issue. But you are also making reference to CME data in the subject line. Has the real-time data for that been resolved? Or maybe was never an issue.

CME data is fine and always has been... was never an issue, this is strictly about the SP Cash Internals data, sorry about my lack of clarity

Okay good. Well if that is indeed the cause, that is good for you to figure it out.

But CQG really should have recognized this.

After finally getting my log to CQG with a token and session number, they were finally
able to determine that AMP had activated the wrong data feed :)

Yes, in the end, our conclusion was right. While there could have been a bug involving cash indices, that has not been our experience.
