We had a user that updated his charts last week from 1187 to 1192 and when he opened them back up he was not able to get to any of his chart books. The error at the bottom of the log just kept popping up. We removed his current software and redownloaded and then helped set up his custom chart books and as of tonight everything is working just fine. Why would this happen and what could we do if we have other users run into this issue in the future?

There was one version of Sierra Chart, which caused a problem with Chartbooks causing them to become corrupted. This issue was fixed. The issue was not with 1192 but an earlier version which damaged a Chartbook. That version was locked out.

Any user affected by this will need to use the most recent Chartbook backup. Here is the documentation to access those backup Chartbooks:

Hi
I have a user who has the same issue. I have had him update to 1198 and then reinstall everything - he is now on 1199. But gets this error and no charts in the chartbook. Any thoughts?
Here's his log:
(sorry about the format, that's how it arrived)

There is no need to reinstall.

You will need to use a backup Chartbook as explained here:

I have had a second incidence of this - is there anything that's changed recently in SC that might have affected our chartbooks this way? I can get our developer to have a look and see if there is something that needs changing.
I have yet to hear back from either user if the backup chartbook fix works, but I'd rather find a way to not have the issue coming up.

Privately attached the Chartbook here so we can test it. Here are the instructions:

Also, what version of Sierra Chart are the users running?

Hopefully that's attached?
The first instance the user was on 1198 then updated to 1199. I don't have info on the 2nd instance yet.
Thanks.

We opened this Chartbook and did not encounter a read error. We saved it, closed it and opened it again and still did not encounter a read error.

Users may be running a version which had a problem reading Chartbooks. Just make sure they are on version 1199 and everything should be fine. However 1198 should be fine as well.

Thanks - but these are new users who downloaded Sierra within the last week, so they would be on 1198 as a minimum. I think there is something else going on, but I have no idea what.
They register with us, then download Sierra with access to our chartbook. Then when trying to open the chartbook, receive this error.
I cannot replicate the problem so don't know how to resolve it.

OK, when someone has the problem, do not have them do anything and we want you to contact us through an Account Support Ticket and give us their name, telephone number and email address and we will get in touch with them:
