Sierra/Infinity(Transact) Partnership Question

Hello,

Now that the two partnership has gone, I wonder what my options are.

I have a separate subscription for Sierra Chart, and since now Infinity does not waive Sierra fees, I have to cancel one of them.

Will I be able to use the Sierra I subscribed separately for trading with an Infinity account? The reason I am asking is because Infinity uses "ESU9" and the likes for futures symbol, while Sierra uses double digits year code such as "ESU19".

It will be greatly appreciated if you can provide some instructions to fully migrate my settings from Infinity provided SC to my own subscription SC.

Yes and we have to prepare new documentation for this because the connection method is different now.

It is similar though. The latest version uses a websocket connection. If you update to the current version you can now use the websocket connection.

The reason I am asking is because Infinity uses "ESU9" and the likes for futures symbol, while Sierra uses double digits year code such as "ESU19".
When using Transact from Sierra Chart the symbols still do use a single digit year. Nothing has changed with that.

And if you need to copy files over from another installation of Sierra Chart, refer to:
Transferring Sierra Chart Settings and Data From Existing Installation to New Installation

and since now Infinity does not waive Sierra fees
We cannot talk about pricing, but the fees that you have in the past, and you pay now to Infinity/Transact, do not fully come to us. They have their own pricing model that they follow which is in part related to their support and marketing.

Thanks for the timely reply.

Another question - Can I use Sierra's data feed for charting instead of Transact/Infinity? For trading I will still use Transact/Infinity's DOM.

Sierra Chart Engineering - Posts: 104368
Yes. That has always been fully supported.

Keep in mind that the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed or the Denali Exchange Data Feed will not feed into the Transact trading software. That will still use the Transact data feed and you will also have to pay the exchange fees twice.

Here is the relevant Transact documentation:

TransAct Futures Trading Service

We did some updates to it today but it needs a little more work. But for the most part it is now up-to-date.

Hello,

I started to work on the migration process today and ran into a very strange problem.

I have the direct version from Sierra Chart installed, configured Transact WS, and tried to place trades with SC DOM and chart, but Trade Service Log kept telling me "Trading Disabled" while I have disabled "Trade Simulation Mode" and "Trading Locked" is also disabled.

Order placed from Transact DOM also will not appear on SC charts.

Did I do something wrong?

Our conclusion at this point is that particular message is coming from Transact. Follow the instructions here so we can confirm this.:
Support Board Posting Information: Providing Lines From Trade Service Log

Order placed from Transact DOM also will not appear on SC charts.
As long as you have followed the instructions here in regards to this:
Chart Trading and the Chart DOM: Viewing Orders and Trade Position on the Chart / Trade DOM

Then Transact will need to help with this.

New Update:

If old "TransAct Trading" is used, then everything works flawlessly.

I guess WS needs some work.

We are done with the websocket development on our side. Anything more that needs to be done would need to be done on the Transact side.

And we also don't consider the old bridge flawless. That connection has its significant issues.

Would you consider re-adding the (old/legacy) Transact Trading bridge program in the interim?

Something like "Transact Trading (bridge/unsupported)" as a connection on the Data/Trade Service Settings, so users can continue to trade from SC thru Transact?
[2019-07-08 21:03:29]
Sierra Chart Engineering - Posts: 104368
No, we already undertook the effort to remove all of that, and we are not putting it back. We tested the websocket connection on the Transact test server and all trading tests passed.

At this point there is nothing further for us to do.

Got it.

There's no point in now becoming a direct customer of Sierra if I can't reliably place a trade thru the new Transact WS connection though.

So any issues with the new websocket connection should be directed to whom? Transact or SC?

Orders sit in queue and time out, without reaching Transact server at all.

This is in contrast to the old/legacy Transact bridge from v1941, which launches and connects properly for trading without any issues at all.

Based on what we see here, the Transact server is not accepting or acknowledging those orders.

There is nothing for us to do in regards to this. They will need to resolve the problem. They should be well aware of this already we would think.

We did report to them a similar problem with their Test system when the market was closed.

Transact WS connection - v1946 64-bit does not stream all active symbols shown on QuoteBoard assigned to user account

User cannot prompt or otherwise restart/reactivate stuck symbols to stream data and chart actively with Websocket connection

Very unreliable; this behaviour does not occur with Transact legacy/bridge connection in v1941, which works properly, as intended

Ticket sent to Transact Support:

For some reason, Sierra Chart has removed your legacy connection (via bridge program) and replaced it with your newer websocket connection.

This has caused several issues with charting and trading via Sierra Chart.

A. Unable able to place LIVE orders and trade using Sierra Chart as orders using the websocket connection cause an error

Sierra says they have been in touch with you about this activity on the Test server, but apparently did not expect the same behaviour in LIVE/production

B. Websocket connection does not stream or chart all active symbols in use assigned to user account ( as seen when QuoteBoard is open )

User cannot prompt or otherwise restart/reactivate stuck symbols to stream data and chart actively with Websocket connection

Very unreliable; this behaviour does not occur with Transact legacy/bridge connection, which works properly, as intended (q.v. Sierra Chart v1941)

Sierra says that this is something that your team needs to fix with the Websocket connection (to make sure ALL active symbols on account are able to chart and trade)

Reply from Transact Support:

Yes we are in communication with Sierra

I trust that this is indeed the case, and you are able to reach out to Transact and resolve all of these issues in short order.

If you require any further information, please let me know.

A. Transact did say that trading is not allowed on the Live websocket connection at this time and as you can see above in this thread someone got a "Trading disabled" error. We are not sure why the orders are not rejected outright in your case.

User cannot prompt or otherwise restart/reactivate stuck symbols to stream data and chart actively with Websocket connection

Not as of today, 7/18. I tried to upgrade to Sierra Chart current version 1952 and was not able to connect after the upgrade. Only the Web Socket option was available. Transact confirmed it is not working. I was told by Transact to reinstall version 1941, using a special download tool.
