Hello,

I have the Denali data feed and trade thru Interactive Brokers. I am getting the CME futures data ok but the data for NYSE equities is spotty to non-existent.
(example: XOM) only shows up in historic charts, not intraday. I have subscribed to the NASDAQ data feed which I understand also includes NYSE and AMEX data and authorized it, waited some time, restarted SC a couple of times and tried reloading the charts but the intraday data is not there or spotty/incomplete. Version 44465 of SC. I don't understand what's wrong.

Thank you.

Ok, follow up :

I can load the data using the stock search function

example : XOM becomes XOM-NQTV and I get the data.

Unfortunately, with this as a symbol for the chart, I cannot use this to place trades on Interactive Brokers.

Is there a translation function somewhere that will let me send the trades using the appropriate symbol for IB to understand?

Thank you.

To start with, you have activated our NASDAQ TotalView exchange, for which you need to add the -NQTV suffix in order to get the data from that exchange. Otherwise, without the suffix, you are getting data from our U.S. Equities exchange, for which you are not setup to get the real-time data, as you have seen.

To solve the issue of the symbol translation, you need to use the Chart >> Symbol >> Trade And Current Quote Symbol. You will enter the IB symbol in this field. You should also set the option for Use as Trade Only Symbol to Yes. Refer to the following documentation:
Chart Settings: Trade and Current Quote Symbol (text box) (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Symbol menu)

OK, great. If I use the US Equities exchange feed, do I have the same issue of a suffix on the symbol? Does it offer the same market depth on a DOM as the NQTV feed ?
Or can I sign up for the US Equities feed for real time data and not have to make any changes to the data+trade symbol so I can directly trade to the IB platform?

This is for a chartbook that is a utility book for scrolling thru multiple symbols in a watch list and it can vary as to what I may be looking up at any point in time.
I don't want to have to go thru setting the Trade Symbol stuff every time I pull up a new equity that isn't on the list as it may just be a quick look and not something I'm following in detail.

Thank you, your service response has always been excellent and is appreciated.

Update:

OK, I can make that work but when I go to a different symbol in the watch list for the chart, it retains the settings in the Trade Only Symbol, such that if it is set up for

Example: XOM-NQTV -> XOM

and I go to DVN-NQTV in the watch list for the chart, it still retains the XOM as a trade symbol. (!!! Danger Will Robinson !!!)

Needless to say, that doesn't work.

Will using the US Equities feed fix this issue ?

Thank you.

We offer two options right now for the U.S. Stock data since each of our offerings has plusses and minuses. In particular:

- Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed with U.S. Equities exchange: Has the full volume information (consolidated tape), but does not have Market Depth Data. Symbols are entered as standard Stock symbols (e.g. IBM).

- Denali Exchange Data Feed with NASDAQ TotalView exchange: Does not have the full volume (not consolidated tape), but does have Market Depth information. Symbols are entered with -NQTV suffix (e.g. IBM-NQTV).

The choice on which one to use is yours based on the above information.

But, with regards to Interactive Brokers, if you can get away with the basic symbol, then you would be fine with the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed with U.S. Equities exchange. But if you need to add additional IB symbol information, then you would have to use the Trade and Current Quote Symbol.

If you can limit the symbols you want to deal with, then in either case you could setup Symbol Settings in which you can define the Trade and Current Quote Symbol in the Symbol Settings so that when you change symbols it will update the Trade and Current Quote Symbol. Refer to the information here:

Ok, I understand the difference between the two feeds. As I have dedicated chartbooks for the futures, that's all fine and dandy.
The Equities is a different matter.

As for the utility chartbook, as things stand I need to use the US Equities feed for the entire consolidated tape.
In poking around I did find symbols on my watchlist that are not in the NQTV feed so that's a bit limiting in addition to having to set up the Trade and Current Quote Symbol stuff.

Now, I have the Denali data feed activated. Do I need to activate the Real Time Data Connection in addition to Denali so I can activate the US Equities exchange feed?
I thought Denali took care of that. Or, is Denali just futures? What's the difference between the two, Denali vs Real Time Data Connection?

Also, I saw this in the documentation :

"The consolidated tape data feed for US equities will be offered through the Denali Exchange Data Feed sometime before the end of the year 2022."

Is this happening or when may it be expected?

Thank you.

Yes, you need to activate the connection in order to get the U.S. Equities data from our Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed (which is separate from the Denali Exchange Data Feed).

I thought Denali took care of that. Or, is Denali just futures? What's the difference between the two, Denali vs Real Time Data Connection?

Denali is our newer data feed and has direct connections to the exchanges that it provides data for. The Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed relies on a third party for the data.

As we noted above, we do have U.S. Stock data available in both data feeds, each with their own issues. We are working on moving everything to the Denali Data Feed over time, but we are not there yet, so we still have both available.

"The consolidated tape data feed for US equities will be offered through the Denali Exchange Data Feed sometime before the end of the year 2022."

Is this happening or when may it be expected?

It is still being worked on, and we do not have a current timeframe for when it will be done. We are doing the best we can with it, but there is just a lot to do.

OK, Serious Question on the Denali NQTV feed.

I have FLNG-NQTV and FLNG as Symbol. It shows me some chart data.

Unfortunately, the chart data is for something other than FLNG, no idea what and I have checked this many times.

SC is showing the close for FLNG as 23.90 and the chart opens the day at 24.30

TWS, which is accurate, shows the close as 30.73, and the open as 30.55

I know this because my position basis is 27.67 initiated yesterday.

I have deleted and downloaded the chart data and get the same result.

I take a chart that I know is correct, enter the Symbol as FLNG-NQTV / FLNG and get the same charting error.

It's not that it's just incorrect, this is dangerous. What is going on here?

Charts for DVN, XOM, CVX, RIG are fine.

Does the NQTV data not have all the symbols available?

Thank you.

There may be a problem with the symbol settings on your side . Maybe they were changed causing an issue.

Update:

I found the symbol that is busting my FLNG chart

FLNG-NQTV is Flextronics and not Flex LNG shipping.

Great.

Right above that in the list of symbols is FLEX-NQTV which is also saying it's Flextronics.

Is it both or do we have a typo in the list? I think you have an error in the listing.

FLNG is Flex LNG shipping every where else. Look it up, it's there.

Thank you.

I don't think it's on my end. Please see attached and tell me what's incorrect.

If you look in Find symbol you will see FLEX-NQTV | Flextronics Intl Ltd
Below it you will see FLNG-NQTV | Flextronics Intl Ltd

Hello,

Someone really needs to look at the above post please. The screen captures document the issue well.

This is a reproducible problem with FLEX-NQTV and FLNG-NQTV giving the same data for FLEX and not FLNG.

If I input FLNG, I get the proper price data for Flex LNG.
If I input FLNG-NQTV I get the price data for Flextronics.

I do not have this issue with other symbols.

thank you.

I have spent the whole week on this same problem and I am no further ahead than I was ( Denali Feed / executing via IB) , I had a chartbook with 9 charts for equities , each one had the trade window attached , so I could watch and trade 9 tickers and add alternate ones if a stock was in play that day , I hadn't used it for a few weeks, when I did open it, the charts were not updating . I also had a Chart book just for ES / MES which I use all the time which was working fine, I read about the problem with the IB API and updated to version 2466 for a start ,and version 10,20 I j on TWS , Equity Charts still wouldn't update . So I updated to the 2475 pre- release , Tried to place a trade on MES Thursday open . wouldn't accept it and wouldn't cancel either
Finished up having to go back to the previous builds , Today I closed all the chartbooks apart from the equities one , switched to SC feed and after deleting data etc I managed to get the charts to update , But when I go back to IB feed they stop ; Also having a prob with USDX and AUDUSD updating as well
What do I have to do to have it like I had before ? Thing is its not the same with every stock

Sierra Chart does not provide any symbol settings for:
FLNG-NQTV

If you see that in File >> Find Symbol , then you must have set that up yourself. Not Sierra Chart. And there is an error in the Symbol Settings you created. This is what is causing the problem. This is not the fault of Sierra Chart.

Exit from Sierra Chart, go into the Sierra Chart installation folder and go to the SymbolSettings sub folder and delete the custom symbol settings file : CustomSymbolSettings.interactive_brokers.trading.xml

Regarding this:

We cannot help with all of these problems and conflicts with Interactive Brokers. And we will not help with them.

Follow the instructions below to use the market data you are paying for from Sierra Chart, independent from Interactive Brokers.

And then connect once a month to Interactive Brokers to authorize the CME data:
Real-Time Exchange Data Feeds Available From Sierra Chart: Connecting Only Once a Month to Trading Account to Support CME Group Exchange Fees

To access historical and streaming market data independent from your Trading service. Follow these instructions.

Set "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Current Selected Service" to "SC Data-All Services".

Press "OK"

And then translate the symbols in your Chartbooks and Sierra Chart using this "Edit' menu command:
Edit Menu: Edit >> Translate Symbols To Current Service (Translate Symbols to Current Service)

You can then use the data provided by Sierra Chart independent of your trading service.

If you are having trading issues from Sierra Chart when using Interactive Brokers, then you need to submit your orders from TWS.
