Unable to draw rectangles on one of my instances

I have an instance that is nearly identical to my original, and it had been working fine today, however when I opened up SC again just now, i'm unable to draw rectangles on the chart. In one chartbook it just won't draw anything when on the rectangle tool (other tools work fine). On a second chartbook the rectangle can begin drawing but only vertically and not horizontally (just looks like a vertical line). I'm not sure what happened as I didn't change anything. Has this issue been seen before? To clarify all the other drawing tools work fine. Thanks |

Update, same behavior in both chartbooks (rectangle can only be drawn vertically)

Check the configuration you are using for that drawing. The Rectangle has options for "Use Start Time" and "Use End Time" (along with corresponding times). It sounds like these may be enabled and this is causing your rectangle to be drawn at a specific location away from where you are able to see it, or locking one side causing it to not display as you want. Both "use start time" and "use end time" are set to "No" . (i am able to manually change the time anchor points to change the rectangle size, so we know that part is working fine)

Please do the following for us: - In the chartbook where the Rectangle is not showing at all, open the "Tools >> Manage Chart Drawings" window and note the drawings that are in the list. - Try to draw a rectangle. Be sure to click twice to begin and end, even if you can not see it. - Open the "Tools >> Manage Chart Drawings" window again and see if a new rectangle drawing has been added to the list. If it has been, check the anchor points for their location and let us know what those are set to. Please get us the chartbook that shows this issue and let us know a chart specifically that shows the issue. Also get us the file named 'sierra4.config' located in your main installation folder. Follow these instructions to get us the files: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=PostingInformation.php#AttachFile Also let us know what rectangle configuration number you are using. Tool Configurations 1 and 2 for the Rectangle have the options for "Use Start Time" and "Use End Time" set to "Yes" with start/end times of "00:00:00". This is why you are getting what you are. You need to update those configurations to not use the Start and End times. There may be more configurations that also show this, although we only looked at 1-5. 3, 4, and 5 do not have the Use Start/End times set to "yes". I can screenshot the config screen, whats the protocol for sending screenshots? Upload chart doesn't show the config dialog in the screenshot. on my end I'm looking at rectangle config #2 and it says "No" for both of those parameters

"Upload Chart with Overlays" will show the dialog as long as the dialog is in front of the main chart window. Follow the instructions at the following link, in particular Step #8 and the reference to the Trade Activity Log.

Actually, I see, i had to select the rectangle, and then go to tool->toolconfig->rectangle config, then i see "yes" for those parameters. My next question is, is there some hotkey that turns those settings on? I ask because I haven't changed those configs for a long time and have never used the Use Start/End Time parameters ever before. Everything works as intended now though.

Keep in mind that the Configurations are what are used when the drawing is first drawn. After that, if you bring up the properties for the drawing, then you are viewing the properties for that one drawing - those are no longer the configurations. So you do need to change the setups in the Tool >> Tool Config >> Rectangle Config section to ensure your drawing is what you want. There is not way to change particular options for the configurations through hotkeys/control bars. You get them setup and then can change between different configurations using hotkeys/control bars - if you want.
