Hi,

Is it possible to access the properties of a drawing with the mouse (normally left click when support drag on creation is off) to change the config of the drawing while support drag is enabled?

Thanks

I should clarify, is it possible to access the properties without having to pull up the dialog (right click)? I'd like to be able to select the drawing then apply a config using my hotkeys

There is not a way to open the Properties window directly, but you can setup Control Bar buttons or Keyboard Shortcuts to apply a specific configuration (Configuration 1 through Configuration 24). For the Keyboard Shortcuts this is under "Global Settings >> Customize Keyboard Shortcuts >> Tools >> Current Tool Config".

To use this, you will select the drawing and then select the Keyboard Shortcut to apply the specific configuration.

The trouble I'm having is that while "support drag on creation" is enabled, after the drawing is created, I cannot seem to select it to apply the config [using my keyboard shortcut]. The only way I have found to apply the config in this situation is to open up the chart properties and load it from there. When "support drag on creation" is disabled then applying config thru hotkeys is no problem.

It sounds like you want to have the option for Tools >> Tool Settings >> General >> Support Left Click to Select Chart Drawings set to Yes.

When this is set to use, even with the Support Drag on Creation/Modification set to "Yes", when you left-click on the drawing it will become active, then you can select the keyboard shortcut/control bar to change the configuration.

Refer to the following for this setting:
Chart Drawing Tools: Support Left Click to Select Chart Drawings (Global Settings >> Tool Settings >> General >> Tool Options)

I checked tool settings just now, "support left click to select" is enabled, I'm still unable to select the drawing. When using left click the drawing is only selected while I hold the L mouse button down to modify the drawing.

The next one to check is "Tools >> Tool Settings >> General >> Keep Chart Drawing Selected After Modification". Set this to "Yes" and then see if things will work as you need. Refer to the information for this setting here:

I've got another question off the back of this thread.

I've got a chartbook with 5 linked charts, I notice that with "keep drawing selected after modification" does not seem to work on a drawing that was drawn on a different chart than the one I am currently modifying the drawing on. For example if I draw a rectangle on Chart1, and I go to Chart2 (linked to chart one) to modify the drawing, I can no longer left click and have it remain selected (to apply configs/delete etc). Is this feature or bug?

We do see this, but we need some time to look into why it is occurring.

Sorry it has taken us so long to get to this, but we finally had time to look deeper into it. Unfortunately, due to how the drawings are handled in the copies to other charts, there is not an easy way to keep the copied drawing selected after modification, even when the option is enabled. Again, this is only true for the copies.
