Interactive Brokers TWS upgraded today and intraday stock charts are gone

This morning Jan 12, TWS upgraded to 10 19 1j and now intraday stock charts will not fill any data and time out with a blank screen( old data will appear), daily stock charts are OK and quote board is OK. There is no problem with futures, daily and intraday data ( charts) are fine. If I load a new stock symbol the blue Downloading Historical data will be on screen, get the green historical complete and the screen is empty. There is no way to downgrade TWS, they said I have to use that version. I am using the current API and tried a few different Sierra versions(using 2459 now). I never touch any settings. I have tried TWS 10 19 1j and 10 10 1h which are the only ones available and not helping at all.

We have been hearing about cases like this and it seems to be related to changes in the TWS API. We have to work on adding support for that API but that is a very involved process. It is not something we can do quickly.

Support When this started I was using the old TWS API and by mid-day I upgraded to the current API so it happened with both. When I request the data the SC message has this.....API ... fractional shares upgrade minimum version 163 IB error code 2176.I got out my backup computer and had the same issues. If I start a SPY chart no historical chart but it will start to form bars with current data.

I cant tell if anyone is reading these. IB contacted me about this issue and said it was corrected in a beta, download it and problem fixed. I did that and the problem is not fixed. Still useless for intraday stock charts.

Here is what IB sent me about the FIX that did not work. I resubmitted the ticket .

There was a backend change of dataType of how data is delivered via TWS to TWS API. Moved from double to decimal.
With that, we have introduced a new setting in TWS Latest and BETA (please upgrade to either).
Setting in question: TWS -> Global Configuration -> API -> Settings -> check the box "Send Forex market data in compatibility mode in integer units" > restart the TWS & 3rd party platform for changes to take effect

The only thing that we can offer as a solution is to use our Denali Exchange Data Feed for the exchanges that it provides that that you are running into this problem with. Instructions are on this page:

CME Group, EUREX, CFE and US stocks are all supported with the Denali Data Feed.

As far as an API update on the Sierra Chart side that is an involved task, and we would not expect to get to this until February.

We do not know if you still would encounter similar errors with Trading from Sierra Chart when using TWS. If not, then this is a good solution.

Dear support of SCH, I am very sorry that cooperation between SCH and IB for the benefit of customers is hanging. Until November 2022, I was satisfied with the use of your services. Since then, however, it has been a constant problem, which gives me the impression of your reluctance to cooperate with each other ( SCH x IB ).
In addition to the solution offered above, I would also expect, for example, a discount for the duration of the problem. Data collection is more important to me, so I don't want to change their provider. I consider your service a suitable addition. So please comment on the proposed discount for the mentioned difficulties.

It appears that micro eminis "MNQ-202303-CME-USD.scid" are still downloading and back filling as before. Thought this might help with trouble shooting the issue.

Version 2474 will not connect to TWS beta or TWS 19.1j which is latest version, keeps trying but never gets any green. With the SC 2466 version if I load 3 quotes and a chart it obliterates my TWS quotes and all I see is many ?, this has been happening since last summer at least but has become terrible. I am testing a free program that will take 10 quotes and 2 intraday charts into TWS and TWS still looks perfect. Sierra charts and TWS has gone from bad to almost unusable for me. Daily bars sometimes won't fill, stock quotes show zeros, no intraday charts. And the Denali stock intraday data is dismal, I compared it to esignal and comparing 60-minute stock charts, Denali is really worthless intraday but yet the daily seems accurate. WOW

IB TWS 10.20.1i is the latest version. IB started making changes for TWS to handle fractional shares starting with IB TWS 10.20.1f for AUD.USD-CASH_IDEALPRO. If you plan on running SC Version 2474 then you should be running IB TWS 10.20.1i.

I have 10.20.1f and SC 2474, TWS will not connect to 2474. I was messaged by IB programmer Roman that the ball is in SC's court and they can do no more, but yes it is the fractional thing. Some NYSEStock quotes with 0, some daily charts missing bars, and no intraday charts. Thank you for trying to help.

You need to run that version.


Any market data issues you have when using Sierra Chart with Interactive Brokers are not supported by us. So we cannot help with those.

Your statements are factually incorrect. This is not Denali data. You are referring to NASDAQ TotalView data, from NASDAQ and making a comparison to other types of stock data. Refer to:

The NASDAQ TotalView data is provided accurately with 100% precision from the Denali Data Feed.

There are no problems with it. We will be offering part of the Denali Data Feed the full consolidated tape data for US equities, we expect sometime in February. This is coming. So you can wait for that data feed.

I tried different things for the last 2 hours and got nowhere so I put SC 2474 in a clean install folder, using TWS 10.20.1i, started a new chart and quoteboard with a few symbols and it keeps flashing from green to yellow. If I try an intraday chart it shows Download Canceled.I can get a daily or weekly chart to load. If I close everything and have nothing open it still flashes green to yellow nothing changes that. I close SC and reopen get flashing right away.

So I just went back to 2466 and no flash, solid green, just no intraday stock charts.I have no idea whats going on.Thank you for trying to help.

I have the exact same issue as above. MES has been having issues loading and I am on the Denali server.
Flashing connection to TWS that keeps resetting in a loop.
It's a mess and completely unusable.

We did additional testing and we do see this issue although somewhat randomly. We are looking into it to see where the problem is. It is TWS closing the connection due to some invalid field. So we have to look at the messages being sent.


A problem like this should not be happening and it shows TWS is not properly engineered.

In the message log while loading a symbol (BOIL) from TWS I see this message:

The historical data is absent and only shows from the time of log on.

BOIL-NQTV works fine of course.

API version issue perhaps? You know better than I do but just FYI.

This is in SC 2466. Later version of SC are hosed with the looping "Reconnecting" problem.

For my above message with starting 2474, this is what happened. I installed it clean. When I opened SC it auto-loaded the example workspace. The connection stayed green thru this. I noticed they were all not IB symbols. I created a chart with the IB symbol. SC asked if I wanted to convert symbols and I checked yes. That's when it went crazy blinking connect. In the message window it was requesting symbols, looks like the ones in my portfolio window and was getting rejected or timed out.
The symbol change set it off.

I unfortunately deleted almost all of my TWS pages thinking this would reduce the quote rush but it did not help. Back to 2466 and all is OK except the intraday stock charts.

One other thing after my beta SC install was it left 7 files on my desktop which is weird, username, data, version. I deleted them but 2474 still ran.

Try using prerelease version 2475. We did not identify the problem but removed some unnecessary messages.

If there is no longer a problem we do not know why because there were no changes made that would have resolved the problem but we are no longer noticing it.

Please let us know about version 2475. We have removed all unnecessary request messages and just the absolute basic ones that are needed and we have checked a few of those and will check the remaining ones in the next few days.

If there is no longer problem then good, if there is, not sure what more we can do after we check the remaining messages and make any necessary changes.

2575 does connect and stays connected to TWS, quotes fill in completely without zeros, Day and week charts are OK, and I can get an intraday stock and futures with correct data Stocks will download intraday starting Jan 03
The symbol names for futures fill in on the quote board but stock names are blank.Seems not to bog down TWS quotes with question marks as bad.

If TWS did the decimal thing around the 17 maybe thats it but other than the short intraday data its working . thank you
