Hi,

i am trying to use "find symbol" to open a chart with berkshire stocks. When I enter "BRK.A" or "BRK.B" it cannot find said symbol. I even verified your website what symbols you use and it should be the same.

Could you help me with that, or link me to a page with working symbols for stocks?

Thank you

I would like to add that I am using interactive brokers as data/trade service connection.
When i use "Find symbol" and i select "Stocks" and "Enter search text - Nyse/amex/nasdaq" and enter search text: BRK.A or BRK.B and click "open historical chart" i get "Symbol settings not found for current service" and "Download failed"

When I enter "BRKA" without the dot, i get "Historical download complete" but i see just an empty black chart.

Any help with searching for stocks appreaciated.

You are using Interactive Brokers so we do not know what symbol you should use. We can only refer you to the symbol formats here:
Interactive Brokers Symbols

Understand this is one of the risks and complexities of using Interactive Brokers. We simply are not going to provide any further help with this. If you want to refund we will do that.

Ok. I can switch from IB. Manually adding stocks is not something I wanna play with. What service do you recommend? What do I need to do to use SC data feed in full?
Right now, when i switch to "SC Data - All services", i am stuck at "Waiting to download historical data".

Thank you

Did you want to trade from Sierra Chart or just use Sierra Chart for charting?

Right now, when i switch to "SC Data - All services", i am stuck at "Waiting to download historical data".
We can help with this.

First, make sure the symbols of the charts are correct. This command will help with that:
Edit Menu: Edit >> Translate Symbols To Current Service

And then reconnect to the data feed:
File Menu: Procedure to Reconnect to the Data and Trade Servers

If you still have a problem:

Follow the instructions here to clear the Message Log:
Message Log: Clearing the Message Log

Reconnect to the data feed:
File Menu: Procedure to Reconnect to the Data and Trade Servers

After about 2 minutes, provide a copy of the Message Log following these instructions:

Hi,

I originally wanted to trade from SC, but I will settle for charting now.

I requested Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed Features and Exchanges, but I currently have Denali. Which one do I need? I can connect SC to TWS but do not have to.

Lets go with my BRK.B example.

The symbol form should be fine according to this: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChart_RealTime_And_Historical_Symbols.php&SymbolsPage=Stocks&ID=5#NYSE

Following your instruction on "Translate symbols to current service" leaves me with empty black screen.
Right now i am trying to get 60min timeframe data for BRK.B at least 2 years back.

We apologize for the delay here. If you want real-time data for the CME group of exchanges and also real-time data for US equities then you need both the Denali Exchange data feed and the Sierra Chart Exchange data feed. The Sierra Chart Exchange data feed in this case is discounted by 12 USD.

But we see you did not activate the US equities exchange . This needs to be done here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=ExchangeDataFeedFeatures

Follow the instructions here to update the Symbol Settings:
Global Symbol Settings: Update Global Symbol Settings

Go to the chart for
BRK.B

Re-download all the data in the chart by going to the chart and selecting "Edit >> Delete All Data and Download". You just need to do this once per symbol and not for each chart.

You should get the chart without a problem. If not let us know.

Actually we see there is a problem getting Historical Intraday data for BRK.B. It is a symbol translation issue. We are working on the issue now. We will have a new release out in a few hours.

I have tried BRK.B and BRK.A and can't get anything in a quoteboard for Berkshire.

I know I am using IB for stocks for that quoteboard but that is only because there are no stocks on the Denali feed.

I have also read the page on IB stock symbols but I still can't work this one out.
It is the only stock in my quoteboard that will not display.
All the rest work with just the simple Nasdaq or NYSE three or four letter symbol code

Please help

You need to find out what the proper symbol is on the Interactive Brokers side for that stock.
