Data Feed Reset for Rithmic in lieu of CQG

Support Request:

To Whom It May Concern,

The real-time data feed for GreenChart is provided via my broker (Click Futures dba Insignia Futures & Options). Originally, the CQG data feed was selected and operational; however, the connection was unreliable. Therefore, a request was placed to my broker to replace the CQG feed with the Rithmic feed. Further, the broker furnished the new login credentials and parameters; however, GreenChart is constantly "waiting to reconnect". The internet connection is stable and working. The broker suggested a reset my be required; reference message below.

Requested is a settings reset or an applicable solution. Please advise.

All the best,
Jay

Hello Jay,

When you login with the Rithmic credentials, it should choose the appropriate server for you.

If you are still having problems, you may need to check with Sierra Chart’s support for further assistance. There may be settings that have to be reset to defaults since you were first using the CQG data feed.

Thank you,

Joe - Client Support

Originally, the CQG data feed was selected and operational; however, the connection was unreliable.
We think we know what this problem most likely was from. It relates to a problem in Open SSL which Sierra Chart uses. We have worked around the issue in recent releases. Follow the instructions here to update:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SoftwareDownload.php#FastUpdate

So you can use CQG without this issue.

Here are the set up instructions to use Rithmic:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/Rithmic.php#SetupInstructions

If you have any connection problems most likely you are getting a Rithmic "Permission denied" error:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/Rithmic.php#PermissionDeniedResolution

If you need further help, we need to see the Message Log following these instructions:

To Whom It May Concern,

The foregoing troubleshooting guidelines/ instructions regarding the Rithmic data feed failed. Attempting to connect to the Rithmic date feed remains unresponsive (Waiting to reconnect...). Therefore, the Rithmic log file, named Rithmic.log.000, is privately attached, per the final Rithmic set up instructions.

What is the issue? Requested is a solution.

Sincerely,
Jay

The log file shows you are getting a "Permission denied" error. Meaning that this Rithmic log file is not even relevant. That is a very common error when trying to connect to Rithmic. Rithmic connection problems are very common.

Provide a copy of the Message Log by following these instructions:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/PostingInformation.php#MessageLog

Also make sure you have your correct Rithmic Username and Password and they are entered in Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Service Setting >> Username/Password.

Assuming you are using a live Rithmic account, then the server is correct.

Have you tried logging into the Rithmic R-trader software using the same Rithmic username and password you have entered into Sierra Chart? And is that successful.

A stand-alone trading platform (not R-trader) is presently utilized via the Broker via a separate data feed via the FCM. It works. The Rithmic data feed is provided separately via the Broker for non-trading purposes dedicated to SC/ Green Charts. Logging into Rithmic R-Trade is not applicable, nor available for testing purposes.

You will have to work out this problem with the broker. And then they need to contact Rithmic for further help. We simply do not control these connections. There is nothing we can do to make that connection work. That is beyond our ability.

It is between the broker and Rithmic to get this problem solved. The full information we have on the subject is here:

https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/Rithmic.php#PermissionDeniedResolution

If you continue to have trouble, we recommend using CQG. It would be unlikely that you would have any connectivity problems to CQG on the current version of Sierra Chart.
