So you are saying that the data feed stops for 15 to 20 seconds and then without doing anything it just resumes?

Is the Trade DOM interface in Sierra Chart frozen, meaning that you cannot interact with it? Or is it just the data feed has stopped.

For help with a problem like this, refer to help topic 3 here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/helpdetails3.html

This sounds like a data feed problem to us. Have a look at the Window >> Show/Hide Message Log and see if there any messages at the time indicating that the connection has been lost or reconnected to.

Actually we think we know what the problem is. Update Sierra Chart by selecting Help >> Download Current Version.

If it is what we think it is, it is solved. The interruption you are seeing has to do with an automatic reconnect to the server which should not be happening. This was due to an internal heartbeat message which was not being sent.

what about changing priority of windows systems processes?....

GSP Bridge and Sierra Chart are currently set to normal...

should it be adjusted to realtime/high?...any effect?

The Message Log does not show any interruption from the data feed , however the data feed still could have stopped. This appears to be a problem on the server side.

You could try increasing the priority by one level but we do not see why that would make a difference.

Could you let us know how long the interruptions were today?

same duration...15-30 seconds

don't know why you are saying it is the server?....same feed is running MC on different computer...no interruptions

We understand your experience with this other program, but we also have extensive experience with these kinds of issues. And it is virtually unheard of, that an issue like you are describing has an origin within Sierra Chart. Something like this is always a server-side issue or some other connectivity problem.

When you notice this, go to Window>> Current Quote Window on the Trade DOM window and let us know if you see the prices stop updating there as well.

The problem here, is that it occurs for such a brief time and is intermittent, that it's hard for us to get a better idea about it when it occurs. We could use remote assistance to look into the problem while you have it, but there is no time from what we can tell because it would be gone by the time we have a look at it.

We also have access to a Zen Fire account so we are going to monitor for this next week.

What we have done is we have added a small display to the Sierra Chart GSP Bridge program which is used with Zen-Fire that shows the number of messages received. If you update to the very latest version of Sierra Chart with Help >> Download Prerelease you will get this.

When you notice when prices on the Trade DOM stop updating, go to the bridge program and see if the message counter is increasing. If it is not increasing there are two possibilities:

1. The data feed has stopped from the server or there is some problem within the Rithmic API which we have no control over. In this case Rithmic will have to help with the issue.

2. There is some overloading of the Rithmic callback thread and the local network socket preventing data from flowing smoothly into the socket. This would seem unlikely but perhaps it is a problem. In this case it probably would help to increase the Process priority to above normal for the GSP bridge process.

so you believe this isolated to zenfire?....

last week I temporarily switched feeds from the CTS trial to my ZF broker feed....will be switching back over to CTS for the Top Step Combine this coming week.

so hopefully issue dissapears....

wasn't there an adjustable setting that was due out soon as an update that may address this.

This problem would be isolated to Zen fire and Rithmic because those use the GSP bridge and the Rithmic API.

At this point we have another idea of what the problem could be and we are going to put out another new release this weekend. Good chance that will solve it. In which case it would not have been a server-side issue. We are suspecting there is some unexpected behavior in the operating system which is causing the problem.

There is no adjustable setting relating to this. This kind of problem you are experiencing should not occur.

We have made some additional changes in the bridge program which connects to Zen-Fire/Rithmic. Update Sierra Chart by selecting Help >> Download Prerelease.

Let us know if you see any further problems this week.
