Hi,

I'm using this for alerts on my phone via Ntfy. Is there a way to create a button to activate/deactivate it that I can place on the control bar?

Thanks

There is not a way to do this through a Control Bar button.

You can control the Activate/Deactivate option through the Chat interface, by selecting "Commands >> Edit Chat" and then setting the option for "Relay to Mobile App" to "Yes/No".

The other option is to change the actual alert sound option that is selected within an Alert, so that it is not using one that will send to the Chat.

Hi,

Yeah I know how to do it manually. Just wondered if there was as shortcut could be created. Anyway, is there a way to modify the message that is sent, so instead of having all that blurb it'll just say what I want it to say?

Cheers

The only options to control what is sent are the general controls for the alerts that do this. Refer to the following:
General Settings Window: Use User Defined Name Only in Alert Message (Global Settings >> General Settings >> Alerts >> User Defined Name)

Hi,

How do you simply stop the alerts?
I have disconnected but when an alert is triggered the chat window pops up, connected. Also it send message to my phone even when I have gone into edit chat and set relay to mobile and relay own messages to mobile to no. Not to mention it just randomly sends alerts to the phone for no reason. Which is why I'm trying to turn it off. I have aslo gone into global settings, alerts and turned off send alert as chat message on every single alert and it is still sending alerts to my phone. Like none stop alerts. This is v2807

Thanks

Do you know the source of the alert that is getting sent? If not, can you give us the text that you are getting in the Alert Manager for one of these alerts, so we can see where it is coming from and then determine why it is still being sent to the Chat.

Drawing | #2 ESZ25_FUT_CME [CV][M] 60 Min | Chart Drawing Alert: #2 ESZ25_FUT_CME [CV][M] 60 Min , Rectangle #2, Last (6759.75) Crossing from above (6760.00) | Bar date-time: 2025-11-06 13:00:00 | Alert: AlertSound (1) | 2025-11-06 19:00:07

Is this what you mean?

That was just one of the alerts I had alerts set for rectangle and horizontal line and TP/SL tagged. The message is just the same type of thing but regarding the different symbol etc. It was just alerting randomly for no reason maybe 2 or 3 times every 5 mins maybe or more. Like I said deactivated it everywhere with no effect, then rolled back SC no effect. Chat window kept popping up with me reconnected again somehow. In fact I even went into the app and deleted user info and still the alerts. I had to unsubscribed for it to stop. So probably SC is still sending whatever was triggering it? Also something else I noticed, when I was deactivating the chat notification for every alert, one of them was giving an error when I tried to play the sound. When I located the sound file and tested it, it was fine. Then SC played the wav normally. I dont know why that happened. That sound has been set up and worked for years

Thanks

That is what we were looking for. We assume this is one of the messages that gets sent to the chat and then to your ntfy app.

According to that information it is an alert named as "AlertSound (1)" that is activated for this, and therefore you need to find that alert and remove any entries for the following:
- Chat Identifier for Alert
- Chat Identifier or Chat Name for Alerts

Alertsound 1, is what I assume SC assigned to alert sound 1 in the drop down on the alerts page. I haven't named that myself.

I have removed the Chat Identifier, and Chat Identifier or Chat Name for Alerts was blank.

What next? These alerts worked fine until yesterday

Thanks

Sierra Chart will not name an alert itself. Look in the "User Defined Name" to find the specific alert that has that name assigned. It will also show up in the list to select the "Alert Number" from at the top of the Alerts tab.

We thought you were wanting to stop the alerts from going to the Chat and then to your ntfy app. That is what we were giving you the information to do - to stop the alert from going to the chat specfically.

If you need something else, then let us know. Hopefully you have what you need at this point.

As I said I haven't named any alerts. That is the default name. The user defined name is blank.

I'm not sure what youre talking about. I reported that alerts were firing randomly, and would not stop even though I change settings to stop them. I figured how to stop them before you replied.

How do we get them working properly again? Meaning not firing randomly 100s of times

This post was originally about alerts being sent to Chat and hence ntfy.

You then posted this as the start of the recent conversation:
I have disconnected but when an alert is triggered the chat window pops up, connected. Also it send message to my phone even when I have gone into edit chat and set relay to mobile and relay own messages to mobile to no. Not to mention it just randomly sends alerts to the phone for no reason. Which is why I'm trying to turn it off.

Therefore, we have been working under the assumption that the issue was about alerts being sent to the chat and ntfy.

If an alert is going true, then there is a reason for it.

If you have stopped the alerts, and everything is fine, in terms of alerts not going off when you are not expecting them to, then you would need to rebuild the alerts that you want and make sure they are set as you expect.

Clearly the primary issue was the random alerts, the secondary was SC not acting as expected when trying to turn them off. The setting send alert as chat message ON/OFF would I assume turn it off?! If it doesnt turn it off why does it need to be turned ON in the setup?

Anyway, while looking at this again now I have noticed on the phone the messages include the term "delayed 60 seconds" or delayed 30 seconds etc. So when they hit my phone and I'm sat at SC and see there was no alert trigger at that time, they appear to be random and theyre random as the delay for each message is not only delayed but delayed for varying amounts of time.

Do we know why?

Thanks

We just tested this to ensure it is working properly, and we do not see any issues with it. When "Send Alert as Chat Message When Alert is Triggered" is set to "No", then no messages are sent to the Chat as per the identifier in "Chat Identifier for Alert". Which then means that no information will to to the ntfy app, since nothing is getting to the chat to then forward on.

Having it set to "Yes", also works properly, where it is then forwarded the alert to the Chat.

We do not know why you would see a delay in the receipt of the a notification to your ntfy app. As part of the testing above, we were getting notifications to our phone (just by chance, as it is still configured in my personal setup). We are not seeing any delays. It sounds like this may have something to do with the ntfy app, but we do not know what it would be.

You state that "...they appear to be random..." are you referring to random alerts? So are you still having alerts firing that you are not expecting? Do you know where these alerts are coming from?

I just realised when I set send alert as chat to NO. I was still getting the alerts on my phone, but they were delayed! Now it make sense why I was still getting them, they hand been sent before I turned it to NO. I'm not getting them now as I had to unsubscribe on the app. That fixed it for good.

The alerts were coming from rectangle, horizontal line and TP/SL being tagged by price but as I said I was getting alerts for no reason. Or so I thought at the time, now I know they were being delivered with a varying delay making them appear to be random nonsensical alerts.

As I said before, these alerts have worked fine for a month until yesterday, I think I installed 2807 yesterday, maybe that caused it? I'll set them up again and see what happens. Actually the day I set these up a month ago, they were delayed too but since that day they have been fine.

Thanks

How very odd. We do not know any reason for there to be a delay in an alert.

Let us know if you see this oddity again.
