Hi, I added the XBTUSD-BMEX symbol which is unaffected by the regex used (???_MBO) because it does not match. however, if I click for example NVDA_MBO and get back to XBTUSD-BMEX, then I get huge load time on the XBTUSD-BMEX intraday.
I think the reason is because it carries the NVDA-STK-SMART-USD from the NVDA_MBO.

Now only if I disconnect from IBKR and use the SC Data feed is it loading in a reasonable time. but then I can't expect to do any trading from sierra.
Another issue - if you can assist: I tried to use the ASML-OPT-20240419-1200-C-SMART-100-USD to see my option when I was connected to IBKR. it didn't work. can you propose some translation of this option that will work with maybe the MBO or whatever other symbol you have. something along the lines of the solution proposed on (2024-03-25 19:40:58 UTC) for the options.
Thanks so much for your assistance!

XBTUSD-BMEX is a BitMex symbol, so it is not part of the U.S. Equities that fall under the _MBO symbol settings. It is it's own thing.

We do not understand what you mean by "if I click for example NVDA_MBO and get back to XBTUSD-BMEX, then I get huge load time on the XBTUSD-BMEX intraday." What are you clicking? Are you changing charts or changing symbols?

The amount of time it takes to download the data for the XBTUSD-BMEX will not depend on your connection, as that data is coming from our servers. So there is no reason for there to be an issue based on the connection, unless you are having connection issues in general to Interactive Brokers, which could impact your overall connection capabilities. If this is the case, then that is outside our scope, as that is a connectivity issue on your end.

The Options data would have to come from IB, as we do not have the Options data for stocks. You would need to check with Interactive Brokers as to what the correct symbol format is.

Thanks for your reply.

"If I click" means clicking on a watchlist (quote board). so as I move between ????_MBO symbols all is well, but since the regex works there, then I get whatever ???? was carried over as the symbol from ibkr. and that is causing a re-download of the entire data for that symbol, hence the long download time. my connection is not so slow.

I want to see in my watchlist, for example the following:
XBTUSD-BMEX
MSTR_MBO
COIN_MBO
MARA_MBO
...

and hop between them while being able to trade the ????_MBO ones on IBKR.

With regards to the "Trade and Current Quote Symbol", make sure that you have set this in the Symbol Settings for the various _MBO symbols. For example, in the Symbol Settings for ????_MBO you would want to enter a "Trade and Current Quote Symbol" that looks like "????_STK_SMART_USD" or whatever is required for the proper Interactive Brokers symbology. When you do this, then when you change your main symbol, the Trade and Current Quote Symbol will also update.

You would probably want to do the same thing for "XBTUSD-BMEX" and set the "Trade and Current Quote Symbol" to be the same as the main symbol (i.e. XBTUSD-BMEX) that way you do not need to worry about how it is set, not that you can trade this symbol with Interactive Brokers anyway.

With regards to the download times, this has nothing to do with the "Trade and Current Quote Symbol". You are only downloading data for the main symbol. If you have a specific list of symbols that you go through, then you should use the "Intraday File Update List" in order to get the data for those symbols ahead of time. Refer to the following:
Global Settings Menu: Intraday File Update List (Global Settings menu)

Hi John.

this is exactly what I have with respect tp ?[1-8]_MBO (BTW the mapping for a three ? is to ???-STK-SMART-USD. not underscores)
the issue of times to load tough remains. even with all the mapping in place, including the XBTUSD-BMEX, when I am connected to SC Data all works as expected. once I connect to IBKR it is not working (the data is not up to date) and it takes more than a minute to load.

Make sure the option for "Use As Trade Only Symbol" is set to "Yes". Otherwise, the system would be trying to get data from Interactive Brokers. Refer to the following:
Chart Settings: Use as Trade Only Symbol (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Symbol menu)

We can not think of any other reason why the data load times would be different.

still takes a lot of time to load.
SC Data - works fine
Interactive Brokers - takes a lot of time and does not update.

Check the setting for "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Allow Support for Sierra Chart Data Feeds". Make sure this is set to "Yes". If it is not, then change it to "Yes" and then close that window and select "File >> Reconnect".

Let us know if this makes any difference.

Is this only an issue with the Bitmex symbols, or is it all symbols?

only bitmex. the rest are *_MBO and work fine on SC Data and IBKR using the mapping you helped me with.

First, we definitely recommend using a separate installation of Sierra Chart separate from Interactive Brokers to access the crypto data:
Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time

What will affect the download speed is the Intraday Data Storage Time Unit:
Data/Trade Service Settings: Intraday Data Storage Time Unit (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Common Settings)

As for the first suggestion, please see my screenshot, but what I essentially need BTC for is to assist trade decisions in the stock market for COIN and MSTR for example.
As for the speed - it works very fast. unless I open up the IBKR connection. please see previous correspondence in this thread. it is simply slow. if you click a stock and then get back to BTC you have to wait a few minutes. not so when you are only connected to SC Data.

Hi Sierra folks, can you please update?

The problem is definitively not related to this at all:
not so when you are only connected to SC Data.
This is fully 100% impossible and we would never consider it because it is not relevant to the issue at all.

Instead what is relevant is the following:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.23 - Chart Tick Size and Volume at Price Processing

Data/Trade Service Settings: Intraday Data Storage Time Unit (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Common Settings)

so you are saying that if I am connected to interactive, change symbols to any symbol but the BTC, and all is smooth, then change to BTC and I get full reload for a couple of minutes. and if connected only to SC Data it never happens, that it has nothing to do with the feed?

I'm not sure I follow.
all system metrics seem ok.

Yes:
that it has nothing to do with the feed?

There is some other reason for this. And we gave the relevant information. In any case, this is really getting outside the scope of our support. Performance issues are the user responsibility to resolve. Refer to:
