I never saw the reply addressed to me until now, sorry about that.

I have cash accounts at both AMP and IronBeam, and take package 11 from Sierra which includes Denali. I also trade a variety of evaluation and funded accounts with LeeLoo, Apex, and Bulenox and I run a separate copy of RTrader Pro for each of them, with market data disabled. You *can* use Rithmic for your market data in Sierra Chart but I strongly do not recommend this, mostly for these reasons:

1. You can (will) hit download limits with Rithmic and they can stop your account from downloading any more market data for a period of time.
1. Rithmic "Paper Trading" server data is horribly unreliable in a variety of ways.

If you're at all serious about trading with Sierra Chart, get the Denali data feed. It's a small incremental cost, and just makes sense.

BTW you can open an account at IronBeam with no deposit at all, and it will keep your SC installation activated. No need to tie up any cash at all just to use the platform anymore.

@j4ytr4der_

thank you very much for your insights about propfirms j4ytr4der_ !

little question please. You say you trade LeeLoo/Apex/Bulenox.

Do you trade on 3 instances of SC or do you switch each time the rithmic connection? And if you do the first option where do you show your charts with Teton/Denali? On a 4th instance?

Thks you bro!

I trade 4 instances of Sierra Chart. I'm also using two trade copiers, one so that I can trade cross-company, and then Sierra's built in "Order Alloction" feature to handle the other accounts at each company. This allows me to simultaneously trade 3 accounts each at Apex, Bulenox, and LeeLoo.

My specific setup is that I'm viewing my master chartbook on the 4th instance, and it sends all commands to the other 3. Those 3 are completely stripped down, one chart, no bars, no studies, 10ms refresh interval, etc. They are as lean as they can possibly be.

@j4ytr4der My setup is nearly identical and it works very well. How are you running 4 instances (assuming different copies) of SC? I tried that route but their documentation says only 3. If I open a 4th it gets disconnected.

https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/DenaliExchangeDataFeed.php#DenaliExchangeDataFeedConnectionsOnSameComputerSimultaneously.

If you are running sub-instances how are you getting the DTC sub instances to recognize the different Rithmic logins needed for Apex, Bulenox, LeeLoo etc.

I keep 4 copies of RTrader Pro running so I can verify open orders and qty are correct (have had a few cases where orders qty don't fill and match up needing to flatten to get back to ground zero.)

I'm using some advice from Frederik at Simple System Trading since I'm using his copier. The copy I trade from has 2 instances, the primary is connected to Rithmic, and the secondary instance is in sim mode, transmitting signals to the other (primary) instance. This is for performance reasons (though at the moment I'm not entirely convinced it's needed but... no definite conclusion quite yet).

The other 2 copies of SC are just connecting to their respective Rithmic connections. So I'm technically running 3 "copies" of SC, but one of them is running a sub-instance.

I also keep 3 copies of RTrader open for the same reason. Things absolutely DO get out of sync at times, and they always will because of the way Rithmic functions, especially with their "paper trading server". I'm constantly monitoring the Rithmics as I trade.

Ah ok we are basically doing the same thing. I haven't talked to him but I'm using his copier as well along with the SC 'order allocation'.

I setup another sub-instance on my main SC copy also on SIM / TX mode. I did this so I could track all the trades & open "positions" on my main setup. Then I have his STS RX on 2 other dedicated SC bare bone Rithmic installs for trade copier and SC order allocation. Since I have 4 Rithmic accounts I've been rotating 2 at a time to meet the 3 local copies criteria. At bit of a pain it's down on my to-do list to see if I can figure out a way to run more local copies of SC for this purpose.

Yeah the limit of 3 still applies, but since the sim copy is not counted, it works. If I add a 4th company though I'll have this to contend with, which is one reason I'm content to stick with the 3 I'm with now.

Posting this here for anyone else using this system. Also read through Frederik's twitter page on tips. He recommends using the TX study from an instance in SIM mode for fastest processing and sending to RX studies (mentioned above.) I was doing this for other reasons (wanted to keep all trade activity in one copy of SC) unknowingly was receiving the speed benefit. This makes sense since you don't have to wait for response, it's instant.

Comments above from j4ytr4der got me thinking so made further tweaks.

Final Setup
--Shell copy of SC completely stripped of everything except a single blank chart with nothing to draw.
--Removed everything from header except Symbol
--Turned off all value scales
--Graph Draw Type -> Blank
--Chart Update Interval - 20ms

Trades show up on SC instances w/ RX studies instantaneously.
Chart Performance bounces between 2-4ms

not sure where you get the 3 copies of SC info from, but that isn't a SC limitation, likely depends on the data service used. Unless I am missing something. AFAIK on a local system you can use as many as you want. There is a limit when using SC on different IP's on the same account.

Interesting I see this here...

"You can have many tens of copies of Sierra Chart on the same system running at the same time with a single license."

If I open a 4th separate instance (not sub-instance) one will disconnect leaving me with only 3. Might be due to data provider? will look into after market close.

It's a Data Feed issue as far as I'm aware. Denali allows only 3, for example. I can run only 3 copies with 3 different evaluation companies, if I open a 4th instance one of the original 3 disconnects.

thks guys ! This thread is one of the best I have ever seen on the SC Support Board.

But... I am a rookie. The learning curve is really hardcore.

Could it be possible to sum up the setup? And explain us how to setup a single blank chart. Explain us what's a header. Explain us to turned off all value scales..

It appears simple when you know the platform, but I am in only since few days...
And like you I have 3 propfirms. I quit Ninja Trader for SC.

Can you explain step by step your process to copy trade on 3 propfirm accounts?

Huge thanks for your explanations until now.

( I know I am boring to ask you that...) Sorry

Sorry to be the bearer of unpleasant news, but you really need to learn the platform for yourself. In addition to reading the SC documentation (which I admit, is NOT an easy read), start here:

https://gumroad.com/l/SST_FastTrack (free)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLt8n4aE9vzeJOUU4y82_-aFkG_i9y5-0h&v=eS4Aul6J_rI (free)
https://ziiiggy.com/sierra-chart-handbook (not free, but cheap and I've been told extremely good)

Then spend many, many, many, many, many hours playing with the platform to get it to do what you want. That's what it's going to take. Even if someone just laid out the steps to do everything you listed above, you wouldn't actually know what you were doing, or why those steps, etc. It's critical you understand every feature of the platform that you use, why you use it, how, when, etc.

the setup of the LTC isn’t that hard at all. If it is than it’s not for you. There is a basic video on my website and you can get a 10 day free trial to test things out. Make sure to read the study description as well. Start there and you should be fine.

Yes, this is a limitation of the data feed. Not a limitation, of how many instances of Sierra Chart you can install and run on a computer:

If I open a 4th separate instance (not sub-instance) one will disconnect leaving me with only 3. Might be due to data provider? will look into after market close.

@sstfrederik here is the page discussing the limit to 3 separate connections per device - looks to be a exchange related constraint. If you are aware of a way to run SC across 3-5 separate instances (dedicated folders) to access multiple separate accounts example 3-5 different Rithmic ID's let us know.

I don't think it can be done without paying and then using Rithmic for their Data Feed.

@User550222 - j4ytr4der is correct just have to roll up your sleeves and put in the time to really understand the mechanics. Good news SST Trade Copier is really simple to get up and running.

As explained it’s a data service limit not a SC software limit. You can simply get more data feed accounts and use SC on those through an additional installation. If you want to run more accounts, simply setup shop at a few different brokers and use the data and trade service they provide. No free lunch on data connections.

Thks guys for your fast reply.

No worries, I work in tech. SO believe me, I spend 12 hours by day to get the platform. But even though I work like crazy (because as a tech guy I like tounderstand my tools), I am here only for few days... I cannot go as fast I would like.

I just wanted to know the setup to trade my 3 propfirms.

I will use Fred copier. For Sure. WBut when you talk about sim account as a leader to optimize the platform, etc... Obviously, it sounds like hummmm I will struggle to get how the platform behave.

Anyway, I love your feedbacks and follow you guys.

Just a last question.

Can I have 4 instances:
1. my chartbooks (I have ES and NQ charbooks, So 2 chartbooks) on Teton
2. my DOM for Leeloo
3. my DOM for Apex
4. mu DOM for Bulenox

And Do I have to use the Frederik copier on my chartbooks? or somewhere else?

Thanks you genius!!!

xxx

Oh and yes you can do that, this is exactly m y setup.

1. My real chartbook instance (in sim) ("instance #2)
2. Bulenox instance (this is the main "instance #1")
3. LeeLoo instance (separate SC copy)
4. Apex instance (separate SC copy)

j4ytr4der_ I LOVE YOU !

Thks!!

Gonna try it right now.

You confirm this statement: I need 3 SC installs on my computer?
1/ Bulenox + Sim
2/ Leeloo
3/ Apex

Correct?

j4ytr4der_ - Posts: 918
Correct, 3 installs. The "master" install uses 2 instances. You trade from instance #2, in sim. Then the other two copies of SC are just separate, independent copies in their own folders.

Gotta say, this has been a genuine nightmare.
I guess I can feel hopeful that some of you have conquered this but this will be the second full day I have spent on this and I have made no real progress toward getting my TopStep account rolling (they are 100% useless for any tech support whatsoever). I now have 21 browser tabs open mostly from SC, and swimming in information that leads me around in circles.

I have:
• opened a funded account
• completed the SC non-pro data agreements
• activated the desired services in the SC portal
• tried every combination of servers, data feeds, RTPro on, RTPro off, RTpro Data feed on, RTPro Data feed off, various combos of SC vs Rithmic in my selected services passwords in, passwords blank, just trying to brute-force a solution since nothing is working.,

Each yields its own unique set of errors--
•SC: still giving delayed data and no choice to select the trading account
•Rithmic can select accounts but there is either no data, delayed data (not exchange delayed, server lag delayed-- 15 minutes to download historical data for a few charts then RT price action is a few jumps per point per minute.
•Sub instances receive nothing at all if using Rithmic.
• Permission denied errors
just don't know what to do. Every road has so far been a dead end.

If it takes a day for SC to confirm my acct or something I could get my head around it but my portal claims I am receiving RT CME data. Everyone who has this working seems to be at Apex, maybe its a Topstep thing but really don't have a clue at this point. Im getting literally every error there is to get. I'm out of ideas

The main issue you are having is that you are trying to use our Denali data for the CME Group non-professional data, but you have not connected to a live, funded, futures trading account in order to verify your Non-Professional standing. Refer to the information here:

If you do not have a live, funded, futures trading account (Prop Firm accounts do not count) to which you can connect, then we recommend the solution outlined at the following link:

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I have an account that clears through Dorman.
I had connected it already (as could be seen in the SC web portal) but it had somehow become disconnected. I'll try yet again
