I have two 34-inch screens and each of their screens can be split into 4-12 sunscreens I am looking to have one screen to watch and trade the live market and the other for back-testing I have multiple tabs for each market in sierra chart and when i switch tabs both my screens show the chart of that tab. I wish to have the back-testing screen be static i.e. not switch the chart i am working with, while for the live trading screen, if i switch between tabs the chart on that screen should switch to that market. What is the best way of setting this up? |

If you want to be backtesting and live trading at the same time, then you would need to use either 2 instances of Sierra Chart (started by selecting File >> New Instance or use 2 different installations of Sierra Chart. With the option for "New Instance", you would just need to ensure that the second instance (the one started by selecting File >> New Instance) is the one you use for Backtesting, as it will stay in Simulation Mode, then the main instance is your trading instance. Refer to the following regarding New Instance: File Menu: New Instance (File) And refer to the following regarding installing a second Sierra Chart: Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time: Step-By-Step Instructions to Install Multiple Copies of Sierra Chart For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Other than method of setup for New instance vs Installing a second sierra chart is one way better than the other? I created the new instance and opened a chartbook in the new instance that was already opened in my main instance and noticed that tick counter on new instance was lagging compared to main instance (have attached screenshots) Also is there a way for me to get existing drawings on the charts in a chartbook from main instance copy to chart on chartbook the new instance For copy of drawings: 1) can i do it for initial copy/migration 2)can chartbooks be synced between both instances including chart drawings? There is not an advantage or disadvantage to one way or another for your particular situation. How exactly is the "tick counter" value being determined? There is not a way to get drawings copied or sync'd between instances of any type. The only thing you could do is to copy a Chartbook from one instance to another. Just be careful to ensure that you are exited from Sierra Chart in both instances when you do the copy. tick counter is the study countdown timer i have attached a screenshot of the settings for the study if i make changes to a chart-book in the main instance and want the same in the 2nd instance i.e. back-testing instance i will have to delete the entire instance or is there a way to copy the changed chart-book from main instance to the back-testing instance? |

The countdown timer in this case could be different if the two charts have something different in their settings. For instance, if the Session Times are different or if the option for New Bar at Session Start is different between the two charts. Since this is a Number of Trades chart, it could also be a difference in the setting for Combine Trades into Original Summary Trade. The first thing to do is to ensure the settings are the same between the charts. The settings were same between charts, i guess i just needed to close the platform and restart it and the problem got solved :) I am liking the two instances vs two installations, was really easy to setup and get it up and running |

i guess i just needed to close the platform and restart it and the problem got solved :) The problem would have most likely been to what is explained at step 2 here:Working With Charts: Resolving Differences of Chart Bars Between Charts A restart was not needed. if i make changes to a chart-book in the main instance and want the same in the 2nd instance i.e. back-testing instance i will have to delete the entire instance or is there a way to copy the changed chart-book from main instance to the back-testing instance?
