standard vs high compression

I used to trade from the West Coast (US) and chart update interval (and Remote Buffer Delay) set to 20ms performed great.

Now that I'm trading from Asia, I noticed a substantial amount of lag at 20ms setting. I have to increase it to 100ms. That's okay.

My question is when choosing between standard vs high compression, which option is better for my case? What are the advantages and disadvantages of going with high compression over standard? Thanks.

If you look in the Message Log you will want to connect to DS13.SierraCharts.com which is our server on the US West Coast, which has subsea cable connectivity into the data center.

Just reconnect until you get to that server.

This is due to packet retransmission due to packet loss. Using our West Coast server, should minimize this. But not fully.

High compression is slightly slower but it is not perceivable. In your case we would recommend using high compression.

So I tried disconnecting and reconnecting about 12 times in a row now and it just keeps rotating between DS23, DS22, and DS21.

I know in this thread: (Denali Data Feed Compression Available | Post: 235037), you mentioned that

Regarding post #22 and #23 we are working on making providing this server address automatically based on your location. We should have this done in about an hour.

but it doesn't seem to be working for some reason. Do you mind setting me up with the westcoast ds13 server? Thanks.

We had a problem with the DS13 server the other day, so it is not currently available.

Yes we apologize, we took DS13 out of the list of servers temporarily, because of a problem with a firmware update on the router. But the data center corrected that for us yesterday. We forgot to put it back in the list. This is now done. Restart Sierra Chart to get that server back in the list. We can also set your account to always use that server so you do not have to keep reconnecting.

Just let us know.

Hi SC Support,

I am connecting from Singapore and would like to confirm that DS13 is the best server for my location.
If so, please set my account to always use this server.

Thank you.

Regarding post #6 this is now completed for your account. Restart Sierra Chart and by default DS13 should be used. And there will only be a failover to the other servers if there is a failure to connect to that server.

Yes, it'd be great if you could set up my account to always connect to the DS13 server. Thanks!

Sorry but can you revert this change back to default so that I can alternate among DS23, 22, 21, and 13 servers like before? Thanks.
