Dear Sierra support,

I have been hearing that Sierra will not be continuing support for Rithmic. Does that mean even the change required in the way to connect to R-Trader Pro will not be provided before May 1st? Even though I feel its a shame for a big chunk of people to be unable to use Sierra, I will have to accept your decision should you choose to not make the changes. I have purchased an annual version of Sierra in Feb 2020. What happens to the remaining months. Will I get refunded for the remaining days/months because I will be unable to use the software because you opted to not provide support for a product that I use?

Please let me know what your solution will be in this matter.

Thanks. I have been respectful towards you and hoping for the same towards me.

No this is technically impossible. There has been a compatibility issue going on for years now with Rithmic. We explain why these problems exist because Rithmic uses an in process API component:
Sierra Chart Does not Support External Service API Components

So this problem was forecasted years in advance of when it happened.

The Rithmic connection is not being maintained.

We can offer you a refund. But really you should look instead at using another service other than Rithmic. We support CQG and also the Sierra Chart order routing service:
Supported Data and Trading Services

And another thing that users do not realize about Rithmic, is that the historical data for Rithmic has always been provided by Sierra Chart. If users are using Rithmic historical data only, we do not think they are going to be impressed by it at all. They are going to see issues with the amount of data available, current contracts only, and the download performance will be slow and the processing of it will be slow and freeze Sierra Chart at times. The way that historical data works with Rithmic really is sloppy.

Do you choose Rithmic because that is all your clearing firm offers? If our TT based order routing is not going to work based on the clearing firm you use, you can then look at using CQG instead.

Thanks for that reply. I use Bookmap as my primary Order Flow software for my analysis and Sierra Chart Footprint supplements the analysis as a confirmation. Bookmap primarily uses Rithmic and hence that is one thing I cannot change using for the near future. The day Denali is compatible with Bookmap and shows entire book depth(apologies, I haven't used Denali and don't know about how many depth levels it shows), only then I will be able to consider it. Till then I would have to use Rithmic primarily for my trading needs.

What is the process to initiate a refund and how long does the refund take to process. I will time it accordingly.

once again thanks for your response.

To initiate a refund, make the request in the Account Support Tickets here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=SupportTickets

It usually takes us a day or two to get the refund processed on our end, but the total time varies and is dependent on the method of refund.

The Denali Exchange Data Feed has 800 levels of depth and we are planning to increase that to over a thousand. And it is going to perform much better than using Rithmic. Documentation is here:
Denali Exchange Data Feed

What you can do for now, is to continue with Sierra Chart but use it with the Denali Exchange Data Feed and just the top of book data which is only about three USD per month for the exchange fee. This is all that you need for the Numbers Bars study.

Sierra Chart also has the Market Depth Historical Graph study:

Hi,

Thanks for those responses. I do not want to spend any more on data than what I do already. But that being said, I need to check what alternatives the other softwares are coming with to connect with R-Trader pro and then make a decision. With Denali, my costs will be added by $20 + $3 a month (just for a top of the book data that is)which is almost the same as a Package 5 a month for what I paid and I cant use that data with any other software. Unless my primary software like Bookmap integrates Denali, there is less likelihood of me going ahead with it (to be very honest). I will make a final decision in a week or so and let you guys know.

Thanks for your replies on this matter.
