Hello,

I have been trying to get the correct PNL to appear while I trade using the Trading DOM, but currently still is showing me incorrect PNL.

In pictures provided, I am long 13000 contracts, and my PNL shouldnt be nowhere near +$13000.

I attached an image of the settings I set, as I read many board posts to try to solve this. No luck on my end unfortunately.

I would also like to ask since I'm here.. How can I save the layout I currently have for my trading DOM? If I try opening a new trading DOM, it is a blank and brand new trading dom with none of my settings/colors saved on the layout I have on the first Picture

In regards to post #1, refer to:
Profit/Loss Calculations and Symbol Settings

You need to focus on the Currency Value per Tick setting.

For the second question, refer to:

Hello, I have followed all steps for this, but for some reason I am stillnot getting the correct PNL.

In pictures provided, I display the position I took a short from 7923, covered at 7907(a winning short position) and for some reason my Daily PNL still comes out to negative(the negative calculation I received was also incorrect. It shouldnt be .08 BTC)

Please help

Do you know what the Currency Value Per Tick should be for XBTUSD on BitMex?

We will check with them on this.

I believe you currently have it correct: 5e-09. I'm just not sure why its constantly giving me the wrong PNL. if it was the correct number, thatd be one thing. But for it to be giving me the wrong side (+ or -) and wrong number, its a pain to constantly have to check my bitmex page. Please assist me as I have been using SC for a long time now, and plan to. This would make my trading a lot better if I didnt have to spend ~1-2min checking up on my PNL on bitmex.

There must be a logical solution to this. We want you to adjust the currency value per tick setting until you get a correct result:
Chart Settings: Currency Value Per Tick (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Symbol Settings menu)

If you cannot, then there is some unknown detail related to this.

We really do not know what it should be set to. This involves something which we lack knowledge about. We do not know how the profit/loss is calculated in the other program and all of the component details.

And also if you have a question about the Daily Profit/Loss, you need to refer to:
Help With Daily Profit/Loss Value

This is not something we provide any support for beyond the documentation.

The problem is that the tick value of the Bitmex XBT contract is no a fixed value
the orders size to open trades are in $ , but the profit/loss is in XBT

A 100.000$ order at a Bitcoin price of 10.000$ = 10 XBT
but a 100.000$ order at a bitcoin price of 5000$ = 20 XBT
therefor the tickvalue of XBT changes as the price goes up o down

the formula is = Contracts * (1/entryPrice - 1/exitPrice)

see screenshot for the current tick value
( that's per 1 USD, so you have to devide that value by 2 , since the minimum ticksize of the XBT contract =0.5)

one other minor problem to calculate the correct profit/loss
is that market orders (takers) suffer a 0.075% fee (on the $ contract value of the order)
while limit orders ( makers) get paid 0.025% rebate

N!co, agreed.

Sierra chart team, is there anyway you guys can look into this? where there is a currency value per tick setting that goes off of current btc price? would make my traders lives easier. My firm trades OTC but want to get into derivatives such as on BMEX, but it is difficult to calc PnL here, hence leading to troubles when implementing risk management settings on platform ( max size/max loss per trader).

PLEASE look into this so I can fully move forward with our ops here.

There must be a fixed currency value per price increment. How could it vary? This does not make sense to us.

What is quoted in red here is different:

https://www.sierrachart.com/Download.php?Folder=SupportBoard&download=35882

There must be a fixed amount of bitcoin crypto currency per one US dollar. And therefore a fraction of one unit is going to have a fixed currency value in USD.

We are going to do some checking on this.

please read these 2 posts from the Bitmex blog

hope after reading this it makes sense to you why the tickvalue is not a constant in $ terms

Hello Sierra Charts team, I would love to know if you guys have looked into the articles posted by N!co above, I would really appreciate if your team can look into this as it is honestly a pain for me to constantly have to revert and check my bitmex account on the bitmex website, when in reality Sierra Charts should be assisting and help provide the correct PnL, without having to take out my trading time mid session with checking PnL.

I will repeat that "My firm trades OTC but want to get into derivatives such as on BMEX, but it is difficult to calc PnL here, hence leading to troubles when implementing risk management settings on platform ( max size/max loss per trader)."

PLEASE HELP.I really enjoy the UI of Sierra Charts as a whole and wouldnt want to not move further with implementing fully due to a small fix that can help many traders.

So it looks like the contract size is equivalent to a unit of the quote currency rather than a certain number of units of the base currency.

Sierra Chart does not have the ability to calculate profit/loss using a method like that. We suppose it could be developed, but it is not something we have time for right now. We are going to be releasing support for Coin Flex soon:
https://coinflex.com/

Maybe you could trade on that exchange instead? This is going to be a much much higher quality of integration and will use our TT based order routing.

ok, so you have not the time , it's not your priority ok . An easy way for you to fix the problem is to give us the ability to get the "trade activity log" in the spreadsheet. we already have the actual price of the bitcoin, we only need to get the entry and exit price of each trade with their quantity, to calculate the PnL with a simple formula. SC is great and presented as a professionnal plateform, i think it deserve to provide a correct Pnl, it looks the minimum. Please think about it.

and answer for my proposition please when you have the time. Without correct PnL, impossible to analyse the result , backtesting has no interest, impossible to work on the risk management... I am waiting your answer :)

We apologize for the delay here. We are working on support for Coin Flex:
https://coinflex.com/

The technical integration that Sierra Chart has to that exchange is much better than BitMex.

We already offer market data and we will get the trading support done as soon as possible. The trading integration uses our Sierra Chart Order Routing Service and uses the TT FIX connections we have.

Not sure if you are interested in that exchange, please have a look. So that is an indirect way of solving the problem you are having with BitMex by using that exchange instead.

There is hardly any volume at Coinflex so IMO this isn't really a solution for the problems described above. Being able to backtest BitMEX pairs would be greatly appreciated.

As for coin flex, I actually looked at the market data currently provided, I only see futures on there. Will the perpetual swap pairs also be supported in the future?
