Hello!

I'm having trouble displaying the correct value for the quoteboard field DailyChange%.

I have read the documentation for the field descriptions and I understand that the DailyChange is calculated as the difference between the Last price and the Settlement price.

However, the reported Settlement price - equal to Previous close is incorrect.

I have managed to display the correct DailyChange% in the chart header by using the header field - Bar percent change.

How can I display the same correct value in the quoteboard?

Please see the screenshot for clarification.

Thanks.

Resolved. After restarting Sierra the values in quoteboard are displayed correctly.

In this case you will just need to reconnect to the data feed and this is a data feed issue. Not with Sierra Chart. Refer to:

hi
on some pink sheet stocks from IB, the quote should be in four decimals like 0.0181. The quoteboard is rounding to two decimals. I tried setting the Global Settings > Symbol Settings for ?????-STK-SMART-USD or ?????-STK-SMART (and also creating a duplicate of these as ???FF-STK-SMART or -USD because the stocks end in FF) and setting Price Display Format to 0.001 but there was no difference even after stopping and reconnecting IB feed. On the SC chart, i got 4 decimals after setting that in Chart Settings > Price Display Format.
please advise for quoteboard.
thanks

hi,

i tried that again and no effect. this time i duplicated
?????-STK-SMART/NASDAQ as
?????-STK-SMART/PINK
which is what the description says on TWS and set the Price display format to 0.0001, and also tried that setting for ?????-STK-SMART. Nothing changed.

Can you pls try MWGFF for example and let me know what settings to use. Current price is 0.0399.

how do i permanently set the chart display format for a linked chart window? i set it to 0.0001 and that's fine for such stocks but if i have a NYSE stock on the linked quoteboard and i click on that, the chart format reverts to 0.01 and then I have to reset the chart format when i click on an equity from the linked quoteboard that needs 0.0001.

thanks

Hello

Thanks for your update. I'm trying to do this for LYSCF.

a) I can not get the quote board to show 4 decimals. The value is 1.57 and I would like the quoteboard to show 1.5740.
In Symbol Settings, I attached 2 images images for you to see where I set the quote value to 4 decimals. I tried all the other ????? settings too with the symbol format but it never chanaged from 2 decimals.

b) I can not get a linked chart to stick to 4 decimals either. When I set as I mentioned before, the chart settings to 0.0001 and click on LYNAS on the linked quoteboard, the chart shows 4 decimals. If I click to another symbol from the linked quoteboard the chart now reverts to 2 decimals and when I click on LYNAS again, it is back to 2 decimals. I tried your suggestion Global Symbol Settings: Instructions but I could not het it to work. There are many explanations on that page. Perhaps you can send the exact steps.

I have another problem re Canadian stocks on TSX and TSXV and CSE. I could not get any symbols to show quotes on the quoteboard chart using format explanation for IB you provide here Interactive Brokers Symbols: Stock Format

I attached a screenshot of the quoteboard. As that shows, the only way *quotes* would appear is

ZON-STK-SMART-CAD (TSXV - called VENTURE on IB description)
BTO-STK-SMART-CAD or (TSX - called TSE on IB description)
PREV-STK-SMART-CAD (CSE - called PURE on IB description)

etc.

But ONLY the TSX stock (i.e. BTO above) gets charted. The others do not.

Entering ZON-STK-SMART/VENTURE or BTO-STK-SMART/TSE format as explained on Interactive Brokers Symbols: Stock Format for MSFT (MSFT-STK-SMART/NASDAQ) didn't work nor anything else.

I also tried Interactive Brokers Trading Service: No Response When Downloading Historical Data and Timeouts which had no effect.

Please advise the exact symbol format and where to set whatever's needed for each of the three stocks above on TSX, TSXV and CSE (Pure) how to properly get quotes and intraday/historical charts.

Thanks

Sorry, I mistakenly labeled the file using LYNAS which is the company name for symbol LYSCF and used LYNAS instead of LYSCF in my explanation. The chart, quoteboard and explanations are all for LYSCF.

In Symbol Settings, I attached 2 images images for you to see where I set the quote value to 4 decimals. I
In the Symbol Settings screenshot you set this for a symbol pattern which is not even used in the quote board you attached. You need to set a Price Display Format of .0001 for the exact symbol pattern.

. I could not get any symbols to show quotes on the quoteboard chart using format explanation for IB you provide
You need to have Interactive Brokers help you with this. We do not know what the symbols should be.

For your first issue with not getting the Price Display Format as you want it. You need to edit the symbol with the name that matches the way you open the stock in Sierra Chart. So if you open the symbol LYSCF-STK-SMART/PINK, then you would need to edit the symbol settings for ?????-STK-SMART/PINK. So take a look at exactly what the symbol is when you open it.

Once you have the first issue worked out, the second one will take care of itself when changing the symbol through the quoteboard.

With respect to the IB symbols for TSX. Since you are having trouble putting the format together, take a look at the following documentation:
Interactive Brokers Symbols: Accessing Contract Description in TWS for Symbol Details

hi again

- for the PINK thanks, i got it. i had assumed that since the stock was a PINK stock, it would use the ... SMART/PINK format. My mistake. So that's solved. Thank you.

OPTIONS
- for the option, the desc from IB TWS which they told me to use (per your help also) for SPY is

Security Type OPT
Underlying SPY STK
Contract Month JAN20
Expiration Date JAN 17 '20
Last Trading Date JAN 17 '20
Strike 311
Right Call
Currency USD
Multiplier 100
Exchange SMART
Trading Class SPY
Symbol SPY 200117C00311000
Product Type Equity
Settlement Method Physical Delivery
Exercise Style American

So I created per SC help

SPY-OPT-20200117-308-C-SMART-100-USD

This shows values for Last, DailyChange Volume, etc. BUT NOT Open Interest.

And Charts are not displaying as I said.

IB say they are transmitting everything.

I can easily pull up that Option detail and chart in other software connecting to IB via API.

So if the problem is there, it probably is on your end OR please advise how to format the contract properly from the info above.

- TSX, TSXV and CSE (Pure)
CANADA STOCKS

Here is the contract spec for a CSE (Pure stock)

Underlying PREV
Security Type STK
ISIN CA74141E1043
Currency CAD
Exchange SMART
Primary Exchange PURE
Symbol PREV
Sector Consumer, Non-cyclical
Industry Pharmaceuticals
Category Medical-Drugs
Issuer Country CA

I created the contract per your specs as for IBM which is
IBM-STK-SMART

So I did
ZON-STK-SMART - didn't work. No data on quoteboard.

Then I tried per your spec for specific exchange as
HNDL-STK-NSE-INR

So I did
ZON-STK-VENTURE-CAD - only Name was displayed but no data no chart

Then I tried the Stock with Specified exchange per your instructions
MSFT-STK-SMART/NASDAQ

So I did
ZON-STK-SMART/VENTURE - nothing shown at all
but when I tried ZON-STK-SMART/VENTURE-CAD - all data shows up BUT no chart, only ONE bar (today)

I also tried
ZON-STK-SMART-CAD-VENTURE (which per your instructions that says use the info in the TWS description separated by dash) - all data shows up BUT no chart, only ONE bar (today)
ZON-STK-SMART-CAD (same as above for ZON-STK-SMART-CAD-VENTURE)

All these chart fine whether historical or intra day on other programs connecting to TWS via API.

However, *TSE* stocks work perfectly in SC and chart and display quoteboard data. I used
TGOD-STK-SMART-CAD

Please test the Option contract above and Venture stock above and advise proper way to specify the symbols for data and chart.

I've tried all the manual info, searched the forums and also contacted IB and it's being set per your instructions and theirs (same as other software).

Thanks for your help.

For PREV,

PREV-STK-SMART - didn't work. No data on quoteboard.
PREV-STK-PURE-CAD - nothing again
PREV-STK-SMART/PURE - nothing again
PREV-STK-SMART/PURE-CAD - nothing again

PREV-STK-SMART-CAD-PURE - name and data and ONE chart bar (today)
PREV-STK-SMART-CAD - (same as above for PURE-STK-SMART-CAD-PURE)

Hello, Any resolution to this? I also tried -BAAVG and Edit > Delete all data and download and it had no effect as only one bar (current day) is charted for TSX Venture and CSE (Pure) stocks. Other IB exchanges (US and TSX Canada) are fine. Thanks.

We prepared this documentation in relation to this:
Interactive Brokers Trading Service: Notice: Sierra Chart Does Not Provide Support for Interactive Brokers Symbols or Data Issues

Aside from what is said there, we want you to pick one of the symbols you are not getting any historical data for and follow the instructions below for that:
Follow the instructions here to clear the Message Log:
Message Log: Clearing the Message Log

Fully re-download the data in the chart by going to the chart and selecting "Edit >>Delete All Data and Download".

After about a minute provide a copy of the Message Log following these instructions:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=PostingInformation.php#MessageLog

We will then ask Interactive Brokers about this.

Just one symbol only.

Hello

Thanks for all your efforts. I will collect the logs as requested.

I also noticed, that when historical downloads do happen to proceed for Canadian symbols on CSE (Pure) or Venture or even US Options on OPRA (all from IB), SC log shows they are being received very slowly -- about 3 - 5 seconds per day (there's a log entry for each day historical data being received. I tried reload from Edit > Delete all data and download, and new symbol on those exchanges). This seems odd as normally, shouldn't the data all download and the chart draw more or less instantly or at the worst case few seconds, as SC does with US or TSX stocks from IB?

Thanks

In the case of US and TSX equities, that data comes from Sierra Chart servers except for the most recent 15 minutes. So it is dramatically faster than the speed that TWS delivers the data.
