I am very concerned about this issue. I double checked my platform, and indeed, the 10sec bar timing is variable. This should certainly not be the case. Would appreciate the time if someone at Sierra looked into this. Thanks.

Do you all want chart bars to be accurate in regards to their Open, High, Low and Close values? If so, how is the open price of the new chart bar to be determined before a trade occurs within the next time period? In this particular case, the next 10 second timeframe.

The purpose of the above is to explain to you through your own reasoning that there is not a problem here. This whole thread is unbelievable to us. It comes across as some kind of a joke and where a large number of users are not even thinking for themselves. Think for yourself and be self-reliant as much as you can be.

Just my observations as an avid user of SC: On the Chart >> Chart Settings >> Advanced Settings menu try enabling the Include Columns With No Data and/or Do Not Draw Columns With No Data settings and you should get the market behaviour for time-based charts that you're looking for.
That setting only fills in the bars that have no market data, but only after market data has occurred.
It does not cause a time-based bar to be drawn at equal intervals when there is no market data occurring.
This can be tested using a 1 second bar during off hours when the market is very slow.

This is not a new phenomenon; it has always been like this.

If by live market you mean during the day trading session for a very liquid market like the ES futures, then most of the time this could be the case, but it cannot be all the time. That simply cannot be true.

Also the video shows trading during a much less active time. And refer to post #34 above.

Ok but that's not the case , yes video was made at night , would u like another at 9am est , the same thing happens that is point of the post and seems like issue for many , you have a 10 range bar it prints new bar at 10 ticks , u have a 500 tick bar it prints new bar at 500 tick , so why wouldn't a time bar print a bar on timestamp? Even if no change in size or price a new flat bar should print , point is there is a lag which then lags the other study's in that column

How can something like a moving average be calculated correctly if bars are not being generated consistently in time.

This discussion is crazy, why is this not fixed already.

All the other non-time based bars close when their respective intervals or thresholds are met, so why not time-based bars?
Yes, this is the obvious question. I do not know why time-based bars are the exception. IMO, the 'Include Columns With No Data' setting should print a time based bar at equal intervals, and not wait for the next data to arrive.

There are so many obvious problems with this, that immediately users would begin to notice and generate immediate complaints. This simply makes no sense.
