Hi, Memory leak and charts not loading. I’ve actually encountered this issue before. After reinstalling Sierra Chart, it worked fine for about two days, but recently the problem has returned. When I open the platform, the data does not update, and some charts fail to display. I’m only running around a dozen charts, and only one symbol is using a range chart. I have enabled Safe Mode, but Sierra Chart’s memory usage still gradually increases to tens of gigabytes. If I leave it running, it eventually becomes extremely slow and unresponsive. Could this issue be related to my use of a trial version? |

First of all, the exchanges are closed today for the Good Friday holiday. Section 30.28 is the correct on to review for what you are stating. Microsoft has apparently changed how you access the "GDI Objects" in the latest releases. To view the GDI objects in the "Task Manager" do the following: - Open Task Manager - Change to the "Details" option on the left - Right-click on any column header - Select "Select Columns" - Select "GDI Objects" to add it to the list For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

I haven't observed any increase in the number of GDI Objects. It has consistently remained between 162 and 163. However, memory usage continues to rise. Additionally, in approximately 70% of cases, I encounter a login error and clicking "OK" allows me to proceed into the software normally. |

The image about the login error not readily visible. We need to see the entire message that is showing there. As to the memory, we would need to see an image from when you start Sierra Chart showing the memory usage and then after it goes up significantly. You MUST be running Safe Mode in this case for us to be able to help at all. Refer to the following for how to use Safe Mode: Sierra Chart - Software Login Instructions: Using Safe Mode For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Please restart your computer. After the system starts up again, only start Sierra Chart (again, please start in Safe Mode). Then open your chartbooks (if not automatically opening) and let us know if you have the same issue. If the system does crash after rebooting your computer, then restart Sierra Chart again (in Safe Mode) and do not open your chartbooks. If your chartbooks are set to automatically open, then deselect the option on the Login Screen for "Open Files on Startup". Then open a single chart. If you do not have an issue with this chart, then add some studies and a few other charts. Let us know if you have an issue or not in this case. If you are able to open a few standard charts and seem to only have an issue with your existing chartbook(s), then see if you can narrow the issue to a single chartbook (if you have more than one). Then get us that chartbook by following these instructions: Support Board Posting Information: Attaching a File (Optional) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

It seems that the problem is found. I restart my computer and open Sierra again. I do not open any chartbooks and open MES. Then I change to a range chart the crash happen. Should I delete All data and download? I try this way several days before, but the crash will happen after some days. Maybe 2 days, 3 days, most 1 week after I click delete All data and download or delete .scid files, it will happen agian. |

The problem must be simply that there is just too many bars loaded in the chart. So you need to reduce Days to Load: Chart Settings: Days to Load for Intraday Chart Data Type (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Load Data Limiting Method: Days to Load) Reduce this to one or two days. And every one or two days reload the chart with Chart >> Reload and Recalculate. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Thanks a lot. When I reduce it to 2 days, it works. What's more, I want to keep some chart's setting to 30 even 50 days(my default is 30 now) to use some studies analyze which need some weeks of data.Does it possible? Or should I use a more powerful CPU or larger memory? Thanks for your patience again. |
