maybe I've missed a setting somewhere?
v1199 spreadsheet system/alert: column k,l,m,n audible alerts not functioning...also not showing in alert manager.
In the alerts setting of the general settings window I put in my own alert wave files, gave them names, then plugged them into the system/alert settings and inputs tab of my spreadsheet study. but nothing happens, even though the visual signals appear on the chart, just no audio and no mention in the alert manager.

alright, since no quick answer is forthcoming, i have maybe a related question: if I download the latest version of SC from the what's new page, which I always do, am I not automatically downloading the NEW spreadsheet version? Is that related to this problem of the column K,L,M,N alerts not working in the "spreadsheet system/alert"?
The spreadsheet with which I am having the problem was just written this week using v1199.

Generally questions like this are next to impossible for us to answer unless we get your Chartbook and Spreadsheet.

Performing a simple test we do not see a problem with the Spreadsheet System/Alert study when using New Spreadsheets.

We will only accept a Chartbook that contains one chart and we need a simple Spreadsheet which demonstrates the problem.

The best approach to this kind of problem is to start off with a new Spreadsheet study and a new Spreadsheet and work with a simple formula like = 1 in one of the alert columns to trigger an alert. All alerts are logged. If this works, then you just need to go through everything with your existing Spreadsheet Alert set up to see where there might be a problem.

So, once again, if I download the latest version from the what's new page, then I am getting the "new" spreadsheets?
Second of all, I did your test, same result: no sound, no alerts in alert manager. I've attached snaps of the alert manager, the chart, the settings, and the spreadsheet.
Is there something I'm missing?

Update: the only time I get the audible alerts and the alert manager log entries is when I replay one of the charts on standard - and this just started happening. But still nothing except the drawings during live. Attached is a snap of the alert manager with the replay alerts logged.

Okay, even though your test (=1) also didn't get me the alerts and logging, I've redone my own spreadsheet from whence this all started. I've closed all other spreadsheets and chartbooks. The only things open are:
my main chart (the 1 min GBPUSD with the system/alert study on it) --which has overlays of studies from three other charts-->the 5m,15m,60m GBPUSDs),
and one spreadsheet (5-15-60_GBPUSD_Alert System)

...and it's still the same. The only things happening are the alert drawings -- no audible, no logging.

I've uploaded the chartbook (chartbook 92) and the spreadsheet (5-15-60_GBPUSD).

Last, I've uploaded a snap of the main 1m chart, where you can see the drawings are appearing correctly, and the three other charts from which the overlays are drawn.

I'm assuming you guys are working on this? For your information, I tried downloading v1205 with the Old Spreadsheets to see if there was any difference. None. Same Problem. No audio. No alert logging. Just the drawings and the spreadsheet processes the formulas correctly.

Analysis of your Alert setup is not within the scope of our support. We did specify that we would only accept 1 chart and a simple example.

We recommend referring to this section here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_SystemsAlerts.php#IgnoredSignals

We are also attaching a simple Alert Spreadsheet and Chartbook which demonstrates that the functionality does work properly. Test these files by saving them to the Sierra Chart Data Files Folder and opening the Chartbook and confirm you are getting alert sounds and messages.

The download links from the What is New page have been removed. Those for Old Spreadsheets only.

You have again missed the point. I just downloaded and installed 1192, and everything worked properly (except for the other bug where you cant delete files from the files to open dialogue box). This has nothing to do with my alert setup (which you don't want to look at anyway). In 1199 and in 1204 I tried your simple =1 test in the simplest 1 chart setup that you suggested, and still didn't get sounds or logging. There is a problem with the latest upgrades - but maybe it only surfaces in more complex chart setups...which really begs the question: if the only thing that works is a very simple setup and on your system, why offer all the complexities and ability to change so many details -- which by the way is what sets Sierra Charts so far above any of its competitors.
Anyway, my problem is solved, so thanks for the support....(even though you don't want us to say thanks!?)

If there is a genuine problem we will certainly go through the necessary work to analyze a more complex set up. However, that has not been established. And we cannot unnecessarily take time debugging users complex setups, when we do not believe the issue is on the Sierra Chart side.

We did not understand that you had a problem after updating to a newer version. A lot of times users make reference to a particular version and say there is a bug, when it has nothing to do that particular version and there is no bug.

What was the problem?

And if there still is a problem, we want you to use the files we have given in post 10 to see if you get Alert messages and sounds. You should definitely get many alerts during real-time chart updating. Those files need to be saved to the Data Files Folder. The Chartbook can be opened through File >> Open Chartbook.

Also in regards to the problem like this, with the way that Alerts work from the Spreadsheet study, whether the set up a simple or complex, if there is a basic problem with Alert messages and sounds themselves, a simple set up is all that is needed to indicate that problem. Otherwise, the source of the problem is something else.

We see you hid the previous post. This is fine.

We want to make it clear, that we did actually download all of your files. The problem is we needed to reproduce the problem quickly and in a reliable way and understand what is triggering the alerts. As a general rule, we will not involve ourselves with complex setups. It is simply unproductive and adds a whole layer of complexity which makes troubleshooting a problem more difficult.

Therefore, we determined that the best approach would be to create a simple example and then test it and see if we can reproduce the problem. We cannot reproduce the problem , so then we posted the files for you to test. We should have made it more clear that we wanted you to test those files and see if you still have the problem.

If you had a problem with alerts with those files, then we would go from there and have a logical way to solve the problem.

In regards to the version number, putting a version number does not indicate to us that a problem arises after an update. A lot of times as we said version numbers are given but there is not necessarily a problem with that particular version, a problem arising in that version or later, or necessarily a bug.

So if you are still having a problem in the latest version of Sierra Chart with Alert Sounds not playing and Alert Messages not being added to the Alerts Log, then we will determine why.

Another thing that formed the basis of our response at post #10 was the fact that we saw that you are using the Signal Only on Bar Close option with the Spreadsheet Alert study. So this adds more complexity and you can have a scenario where a formula is not becoming TRUE at row 4 when it may seem like it is.
