Version 2852: No Minimize Button on Chart Title Bars.

View Count: 105

In Sierra Chart version 2852 (64-bit), I cannot minimize individual chart windows within the main MDI chartbook window to view multiple charts simultaneously.
Previously (in version 2752), the chart title bar had a minimize button (small rectangle icon) allowing me to shrink individual charts and arrange several side-by-side. Now:
Chart >> Show Title Bar option does nothing in the main maximized window.
Global Settings >> General Settings >> GUI >> Auto Hide Charts Title Bar And Scrollbar is set to No, but no effect.
Title bar only appears temporarily in Window >> Cascade or Tile mode, but disappears immediately after maximizing any chart.
Window >> Detach Chart Window works, but detached charts still take full screen individually; cannot see multiple without switching tabs/windows.
Global Settings >> GUI >> Multiple Document Interface (MDI) and Custom Title Bar Settings adjustments (MDI Child Window Minimize Method: Minimize to Bottom, Width/Height %: 20/8) do not restore the minimize button.
How to Restore ability to minimize/resize individual charts within the chartbook for multi-chart layout without full-screen takeover or constant switching.

if you Tile your charts it should be available, if just 1 chart is open (maximized) it doesn't appear, I'm sure someone from support will have a better answer :)

In earlier versions (I believe around 2752) this situation did not exist. I could simply minimize or restore a single chart and my previously arranged tiled layout stayed exactly as it was.
In the current version (2862), as soon as I maximize even one chart, the entire layout gets reset. The title bars disappear, the tiled arrangement is lost, and when I return from the maximized view I have to manually arrange all charts again from scratch. This makes it impossible to temporarily focus on one chart and then return to the existing multi-chart layout.
Because of that, this feels less like an intentional workflow change and more like something that has clearly broken compared to how MDI behavior worked in earlier versions.

What would be the purpose of the Chart → Show Title Bar option in that case?
If the title bar is intentionally suppressed whenever a chart is maximized, then this option becomes effectively meaningless in normal use, because maximizing a chart is exactly when access to the title bar controls (minimize/restore) would be most useful. In earlier versions, the setting had a practical function, but in the current behavior it no longer seems to have any real effect in typical workflows.

What I am missing is exactly what I marked in red in the screenshot — the minimize / restore buttons on the chart title bar. In earlier versions, those controls were available and allowed me to temporarily minimize a single chart while keeping my existing tiled layout intact. In the current version, those buttons are gone once a chart is maximized, which removes that functionality entirely.

The controls for "Minimize", "Restore" and "Close" when you have a maximized window is now controlled by menu item buttons that show as "Min", "Res", and "Cls" (by default) in the menu bar just to the right of the "Help" menu. You can change the wording for these - refer to the following and the 3 items below it:
General Settings Window: MDI Container Window Child Window Menu Text Separator (Global Settings >> General Settings >> GUI >> Multiple Document Interface (MDI) and Custom Title Bar Settings)

As to restoring the layout, we are not seeing any issue with this. Please be sure to be on version 2862 and see if you continue to have an issue. Follow the instructions at the following link to update:

These are now as menu commands after the Help menu. You can change the name of the commands. For the documentation, refer to:
General Settings Window: MDI Container Window Child Window Minimize Menu Text (Global Settings >> General Settings >> GUI >> Multiple Document Interface (MDI) and Custom Title Bar Settings)

You should also be aware of the MDI tabs:
General Settings Window: Window Tabs (Global Settings >> General Settings >> Windows)

And the Left click action:
General Settings Window: MDI Tabs Left Click Action (Global Settings >> General Settings >> Windows >> Window Tabs)

Additionally, the Window menu has all of the commands for minimizing and maximizing and restoring In the active window. But for a Maximized child window these are also on the menu as well as top level commands.

Review the prior posts as well.

Could you please indicate which previous Sierra Chart version still preserves the old behavior and appearance, where the chart title bar (with minimize/restore buttons) remains available and the existing tiled layout is not reset when maximizing a single chart?
Based on my experience, this worked correctly in versions around 2752 I would like to know the last version number where the previous MDI behavior was still intact.

The previous version prior to the MDI window changes is 2813.

Did you update to the latest release (v 2862) and are you seeing the problem with the layout after maximizing and restoring in that version?

Yes, I had Sierra updated to version 2862.
Now, after arranging the windows the way I want, some of them stay in place, but the one that is maximized and then minimized ends up looking like in the screenshot.
By the way, the title bar visually looks worse than in the previous version — the bar is wider and takes up more screen space. I know it can be disabled, but that’s probably not the point. Besides, I’m not some kind of power user who is going to dig into advanced settings that I don’t really understand.
Additionally, I had an Attach Trade Window to Chart connected to one chart, and it got disconnected after the update.

Now, after arranging the windows the way I want, some of them stay in place, but the one that is maximized and then minimized ends up looking like in the screenshot.

You are "Minimizing" the window instead of "Restoring" it. Be sure to select the "Restore" button.

Just so you are aware, there are multiple options for how to handle the minimization of a window now. Refer to the following setting:
General Settings Window: MDI Child Window Minimize Method (List) (Global Settings >> General Settings >> GUI >> Multiple Document Interface (MDI) and Custom Title Bar Settings)

By the way, the title bar visually looks worse than in the previous version — the bar is wider and takes up more screen space. I know it can be disabled, but that’s probably not the point.

There are a number of settings to control how the Title Bar for the windows are displayed. Refer to the following setting and the 3 below it:
Graphics Settings: Window Title Bar

Additionally, I had an Attach Trade Window to Chart connected to one chart, and it got disconnected after the update.

We think this may be due to the upgrade. But if you stay on release 2862 and attach the window again, do you continue to have a problem with it?

but the one that is maximized and then minimized ends up looking like in the screenshot.
Set this setting to Minimize to Bottom:
General Settings Window: MDI Child Window Minimize Method (List) (Global Settings >> General Settings >> GUI >> Multiple Document Interface (MDI) and Custom Title Bar Settings)

And for the latest updates related to minimize, use the latest version which is 2862.

This is extremely easy to change:
By the way, the title bar visually looks worse than in the previous version — the bar is wider and takes up more screen space.

It is done through these Global Settings >> Graphics Settings:
