Hello Team, I would like to clarify some concepts I faced when reading some indicators: 1. After reading https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SessionTimes.php#WhyReverseSessionTimes, does reverse session timings only have an impact when you enable Evening Session? I can't think of a reason where the chart would be affected in anyway if Evening Session is disabled but Reverse Session is enabled. Subsequent questions are on Previous/Period OHLC-Variable Period 2. Minimum Required Time Period as %. This is pretty simple and tells me what is minimally required to consider it as a period. However, the default was 5% which seems very compared to my understanding. This makes me think I might have misunderstood. Eg: If I use a Period: Week and Length: 1, it makes sense to have it more than 50~75% not 5% 3. Forward Project OHLC Lines. I'm totally lost in this, what is even a forward project (I couldn't seem to find any docs on this)? 4. What is the point of Number Of Days To Calculate when we have Time Period Length? Eg: What should I set Number Of Days To Calculate for Period: Week if I have Length of - 1 → Would this be 5 or 7 days? - 2 → 10 or 14 days? Thank you. |

1. You could set your main session times to the following: - Start Time: 16:00:00 - End Time: 15:59:59 This is a reversed session time, where the beginning of the trading day starts in the previous day. 2. You are overthinking this. That default is just a default. Change it to whatever works best for what you want. 3. "Forward Project" means to extend the lines into the "Forward Projection" area of the chart. Refer to the following: Chart Drawing Tools: Forward Projection Area 4. The Time Period Length sets the amount of time over which a specific calculation is performed in combination with the Time Period Type. So for the "Period OHLC - Variable Period" a Time Period Type of "Week" with a Time Period Length of "1" would calculate each week (every 7 days) and give the OHLC lines for each week. The actual total number of days over which the calculation is done is defined by the "Number of Days to Calculate". Therefore, this number must be larger than the number of days defined by the Time Period Length and Type. For instance, if you have the Time Period Type as "Weeks" and the Time Period Length as "10" then you would need the "Number of Days to Calculate" to be at least 70 (7 x 10). And if you want to view 2 periods for the OHLC, you would need to calculate at least 140 days. 1. You could set your main session times to the following:
- Start Time: 16:00:00 - End Time: 15:59:59 Was this statement answeing attempting to answer my original question of if "is chart affect if sessions times are reversed but evening session is disabled" or was it more of general statement? If the latter, why does Start Time: 18:00:00, End Time:17:00:00 seem to work? Thank you for the other answers, there were quite clear. |

Yes, we were answering the question of "does reverse session timings only have an impact when you enable Evening Session?" You can have reversed session times without using the Evening Session. When you have the Session Times set as we gave in the example, you are using Reversed Session Times, as the End Time is before the Start Time. Therefore the Start Time actually is referring to a start time in the previous day. Note the additional sentence we have in our original response in that section - "This is a reversed session time, where the beginning of the trading day starts in the previous day."
