Good afternoon,

After years of correct functioning and without any explicit change on my side, some weeks ago one of my chartbooks (3 CME symbols, 15 charts total) started to run very laggy/slow.

Here's the catch: opening the chartbook the data loading is reasonably fast and, during the first 20-30 seconds while the charts which contain more data are still loading, the charts with DOM are very swift and responsive as they should be. After all loadings are complete, everything becomes slow and laggy.

Windows Task Manager displays a normal/low usage of resources from SierraChart from a CPU, memory and GPU perspective.

I look forward to your kind response.
Thanks in advance

Check the calculation time for the studies and see if any of them is unusually high:

The highest calculation time is 55 ms for a monthly volume by price study on a NQ future. Every study I got is stock as I don't have custom studies. The studies I use are the exact same of the other chartbook I use, which runs just fine.

I don't get how SC can slow down like this (a lag of several seconds on charts, on menus and on the crosshair rendering) while its resources consumption is so low per Task Manager (other softaware like Chrome or Outlook run just fine at the same time).

If could be wrong, but the only hypothesis I can make is about the size of the data files of the symbols loaded on the malfunctioning chartbook (>1 Gb for each CME contract. Compared with <200 Mb for each Eurex contract on the chartbook which runs fine).
Could it be a matter of read/write time on the SSD of these large files? If so, why it didn't happen in the past 2 years using the same symbols?

Thanks in advance

Refer to:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.34 - TPO Profile Chart Letter/Block Price Increment / Volume by Price Ticks Per Volume Bar (30.34)

And:

I cannot increase the Tick per Volume Bar and the Volume at Price Multiplier since I would lose the exact information of the Volume By Price studies while my work is based on them.
We are talking just three CME Index futures (ES, NQ, YM).
Prior to the last few weeks, Sierra Chart had never had any problems rendering the exact same charts. There has to be a new cause/solution of the problem.
I look forward to your kind response

We need you to increase those settings to see if it improves performance. You need to determine what the problem is!

The thing that users do not understand is when the market is more volatile and has wider range of prices, that is what has changed! What is new is a wider range of prices due to market volatility!

It is up to you if you want to suffer the consequences, of the immense amount of market data generated by the market. That is your choice.

I understand but I reiterate that I never had the same problem using the same setup of Sierra Chart almost everyday during the past two years, through which there has been plenty of volatility and wide ranges of prices.

Now I can add more context about the possible cause: yesterday I used the function "Delete All Data And Download" on each of the three instruments and I enabled "Use OpenGL for Chart Graphics" (which I had disabled to try and solve the problem): the problem seemed solved.

Today I started the platform at 08:00am ET and it run fine. I shut the monitor and I came back after the bout of volatility of 08:30am ET. The platform was again very laggy and the time scales on several windows were flickering/not rendering properly.
Closing and reopening the platform solved the problem.
During all this I always kept "Tick per Volume Bar" and "Volume at Price Multiplier" at 1.

These are system-level performance or stability issues. We have no control over them.
