Dear SC-Team, I have added a custom symbol "IW" to one of my charts in Sierra Chart. However, when I start Sierra Chart and load the chartbook that contains the IW chart (see attached file), the data for the IW symbol is not downloaded automatically In order to display the IW chart data, I currently have to perform one of the following manual steps each time I start Sierra Chart: - File > Find Symbol > Open Intraday Chart > Delete and Download Data - Delete and Download Data on the custom symbol (IW) chart Only after one of these actions does the chart begin displaying intraday data for IW. How can it done automatically? |

Thank you for the link John, I have opened two charts from the custom symbol, but I still have to right-click and select the “delete and download data” option when opening SC. Is there a way to have the chart update automatically? |

It should be updating automatically if you have everything setup correctly. Our guess is that the Symbol Settings option for "Download Historical Data for Formula Symbol" is set to "No" and this needs to be set to "Yes".

This is impossible for us to know without detailed analysis of the Message Log for that symbol and all dependent symbols, but this is not something we would do for custom symbols. Our recommendation is just to keep that option disabled because downloading of historical data, does take a long time in some cases.

No you do not need real-time data. What do you mean by "nothing is loading from startup"? The image does not give us any information, as we are not even sure what to look at. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

The custom symbol (IW) is composed as follows: 0.70*{ESZ25_FUT_CME}+0.20*{NQZ25_FUT_CME}+0.07*{YMZ25_FUT_CME}+0.03*{RTYZ25_FUT_CME} and represents the following price development on 09/23/2025 As you can see, there is a horizontal line at 0.00% -> 09/23/2025 at 12:45 p.m. (the data is missing) The settings can be seen in the screenshot 2025-09-24 181631.png. Is there something wrong with the settings? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-09-25 15:18:27

What we see in the image, now that we know what to look at, is that the IW symbol is 0.00% until the most recent bar where it changes to 0.81%, as shown in the label on the right. So from what we see, this appears to be related to not getting the historical data as noted previously. If you are having an issue with not getting the data when connected to the data feed, then let us know. (IW) 0.81% at 12:05 p.m. was the current value The historical data is not being loaded only when I Edit/Download Data - Intraday Chart but I want them to load automatically when I open SC I also changed the value of the Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download > Formula Symbols to 2 I would be very grateful if you could tell me how to solve this issue |
