Hi,
in Sierra Chart Historical Data Service: Setup Instructions it states: "Tick by tick data for futures contracts on the CME/NYMEX/COMEX/CBOT begins at 2011. Prior to this the CME/NYMEX/COMEX/CBOT data is in 1 minute units and begins at June 2008.", but if I try to set up a chart of CL future (30 minutes timeframe, continuous, back adjusted) it starts only from 2020 (Global settings>data/trade service settings>Maximum historical intraday days to download is set to 10000; I am on SC service package 11 with Denali). Why?

You need to ensure that the setting for "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Days to Load for Intraday Chart" is set to the value you need in order to get the amount of data you want. Refer to the following:
Chart Settings: Days to Load for Intraday Chart Data Type (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Load Data Limiting Method: Days to Load)

Thanks John, beside Global settings (as I explained above) Chart settings is as it should be (Data limiting>Load data limiting method = use number of days to load; Days to load for intraday chart data type = 10000; Adjust proportional with bar period = no) and I get a chart showing only 1895 days... Is there something I'm missing?

The next thing to do is to select "Edit >> Delete All Data and Download". You will be prompted for the contracts to be redownloaded - you will want to select all of them.

Let us know what the earliest contract in the list is, as we are curious.

Just be aware that it will take a while to download the data.

I will do it today and let you know; do I have to do it only in the main instance or in the separated ones too?

We see you are using Rithmic and it is made very clear here you cannot use Rithmic for Continuous Futures Contract Charts:
Continuous Futures Contract Charts: Introduction

The Sierra Chart Continuous Futures Contract Chart functionality cannot be reliably used with the Rithmic because Rithmic uses single digit years in the symbols, instead of 2 or 4 digit years. This creates a severe limitation with the amount of historical data that can be accessed. Therefore, this feature must be considered unsupported when using Rithmic. The solution is to install another installation of Sierra Chart set to use the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service.

I deleted and downloaded all data but I do not see any improvement: still max around 1520 days in the chart, either for GC or CL. It seems to me that there is some kind of limit (due to what?). The oldest available symbols when I started the delete & download procedure were: CLN0 and GCQ0 (did not try more symbols)

Sorry, I replied to the post before seeing your answer - so the issue is due to Rithmic, at least now I know why. There was I misunderstanding from my side because I thought that having Denali as data provider would enable me to download outside of Rithmic field; anyway, what you suggest is: Install a second installation of SC, connect to Teton and use its symbols and download data with it. Right? And would have to pay extra fees for that?

You have the following exchanges active with our Denali Exchange Data Feed:
- CME Non-Professional Top-of-Book
- NYMEX with Market Depth for Non-Professional Trading Accounts

As such, you are getting data for products traded on the CME and NYMEX from us. Any other data would be coming from Rithmic.

You specifically mentioned CL and GC. CL trades on the NYMEX exchange, so you are getting data for CL from us. GC trades on the COMEX exchange, so the data for GC is coming from Rithmic.

If you want to get the data for GC from us, then you would need to activate one of the COMEX exchanges (either Top-of-Book or "with Market Depth", depending on whether you need Market Depth data or not). For next month we would recommend changing to one of the "Full CME Group" options for your data, as this will be cheaper overall, since you are going to have 3 of the 4 exchanges active anyway.

The other option, if you do not want to activate the COMEX exchange would be to install a second Sierra Chart and leave the service set to "SC Data". You will then get the delayed streaming data from us, which will allow you to get all the historical data as well.

Putting the above aside, you should not be having an issue with CL. Have you redownloaded the data for CL? If so, do you recall the earliest contract that showed in the list?

Yes, I did redownload CL data and the first available contract was CLN0.

Sorry, we did not realize this previously. The issue is that since you are using Rithmic you are limited to 5 years of data. This is due to their use of single digit years, and if we did more, then the years would get confused.

In order to view more data, you would have to install a second Sierra Chart and leave it set to "SC Data" and then you will have 2 digit years and you can get the historical data going back as far as we have available.
