Hey!

I face the following issue. As you can see in the picture attached to this thread, I have a chartbook dedicated to the E-Mini Nasdaq Futures asset. In this chartbook I have 11 tabs, of many different timeframes of the same asset and each tab has the exact combination of studies applied on, so they are basically identical.

When I load up my 2 chartbooks that I currently work on, one for the Nasdaq CFDs asset and the aforementioned one, I get a huge delay of approximately 20 - 30 minutes before the NQ Futures one fully loads, compared to the other one which loads in a matter of 20 to 30 seconds.

In the picture you can also see all the errors that I get while loading up my chartbooks after I have opened Sierra Chart for the first time for the day, displayed in the message log.

I must also inform you that my computer is an iMac M1 and I run Sierra Chart through the Croossover program.

Is there any way to fix this problem? Why is it happening? Any ideas?

Thank you in advance again.

You can ignore the messages about file compression. That is occurring since you are running on an emulator.

As to why it takes longer to load NQ than the NAS100, one item that would affect this is the amount of data that underlies each instrument. If NQ has much more trading occurring then that will require more data to be loaded. Although when we look at these two instruments, they look to be about the same in terms of the underlying data.

Another item that would affect the loading is if you saving Market Depth. Since the NQ has Market Depth and NAS100 does not, it will take longer for NQ to load since it is also pulling in that market depth data.

For the best performance you really need to run Sierra Chart on Windows. Not an emulation layer.

And you need to use a dedicated solid-state drive for Sierra Chart.

Regarding the compression error, make sure the following two options are set to No:
Advanced Service Settings: Support Intraday and Market Depth Files Compression (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Other)

Okay, so yes I am also ussing the market depth data for the NQ futures asset. So there is no other way that I can bypass the delay of the loading time right?

Okay, I did it. Although under the "File Compression" section inside the "Advanced Service Settings" window, only the "Support Intraday and Market Depth Files Compression" option was set to "Yes" and I turned it into "No". The other option named "Disable Intraday and Market Depth File Compression if Enabled on the File" was already set to "No".

Also, I cannot obviously run Windows because I am using a Mac computer and I do not want to convert my whole OS to Windows in this hardware for many reasons. As soon as I have the ability to do so, I would certainly convert to a Windows Pc for many reasons, and as far as trading software etc are concerned.

This is definitely going to have an impact on the loading time. You can also go through the items at the following link to see if there are any other items that can help you with the loading time:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often

Your subject says "loading for the first time". If you never opened a chart for NQ, then Sierra Chart has to download all the historical data, which can be 1.5 GB per quarter of intraday data for NQ. (Just look at the size of the SCID files). Depending on your chart settings, and your internet connection, it can take a while to download everything the first time. The next time you open the chartbook, it will be read from disk, but it will be faster, since disk reads, even from HDD, are usually faster than the datafeed. Any missing data is downloaded to bring you current.

If you see more carefully in my first post in this thread I write "..after I have opened Sierra Chart for the first time for the day". So this is what I meant.
