Reconnect (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings)

This sub-section contains settings related to service reconnections.

Reconnect Daily (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Reconnect)

When this option is set to Yes, then Sierra Chart will reconnect to the data and trade servers at the time specified by Reconnect Time and Reconnect Time Zone.

Reconnect Time (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Reconnect)

This setting along with the Reconnect Time Zone define the time of the day for which Sierra Chart will reconnect to the data and/or trading system, when Reconnect Daily is set to Yes.

The format for entering the time is HH:MM:SS, where H is hours, M is minutes, and S is seconds.

Reconnect Time Zone (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Reconnect)

This is the time zone used with the Reconnect Time to set the daily reconnect when Reconnect Daily is set to Yes.

Select the appropriate time zone from the list.

Reconnect Only On Sunday (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Reconnect)

This option is only valid when Reconnect Daily is set to Yes. When Reconnect Only On Sunday is set to Yes, then the reconnection at the set time only occurs on a Sunday.

Reconnect Delay in Milliseconds (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Reconnect)

This setting is only valid when Reconnect Daily is set to Yes. When Reconnect Delay in Milliseconds is set to a non-zero number, this specifies the number of milliseconds after the specified time to reconnect that the reconnection will take place.

The purpose of this is to allow a delay for any new Symbol Settings to be retrieved. A recommended value is 10000 milliseconds. Otherwise, the standard delay is used if it is set to 0.

Other (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings)

This sub-section contains other miscellaneous settings.

Intraday File Flush Time in Milliseconds (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Other)

This setting specifies the time interval in milliseconds where data which has been recorded to Intraday data files will be flushed to the actual operating system file.

In almost all cases this needs to be set at 0. In this case the flush time will be 10000 milliseconds. This should never be changed unless you know what you are doing and it is detrimental performance wise to be setting this lower than 500 ms.

Support Intraday and Market Depth Files Compression (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Other)

The default for this setting is Yes. When this is set to Yes, then Intraday data files with a file extension of .scid, have compression enabled through the operating system file system. Normally this will be NTFS compression.

Normally this should be set to Yes and not changed. If your file system does not support compression, then set this to No to prevent errors related to file compression.

Disable Intraday and Market Depth File Compression if Enabled on the File (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Other)

The default for this setting is No. When this is set to Yes, then if file compression is enabled on an Intraday data file or Market Depth data file, it will be disabled.

If your file system does not support compression, then set this to No to prevent errors related to file compression.

Translate Symbols Automatically in Chartbooks and Quote Boards (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Other)

When this setting is set to Yes, then when a Chartbook is opened, the symbols within the Chartbook and any Quote Boards with in the Chartbook are automatically translated to match the current selected Data/Trading Service as if Edit >> Translate Symbols to Current Service was selected.

This feature is provided for convenience and is not assured to translate all symbols. Only the most common ones. It will only translate outright futures symbols.

Crash Reporter (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings)

This sub-section contains settings related to the crash reporter.

Write Crash Dump and Terminate on Not Responsive Primary Thread (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Crash Reporter)

When this is set to Yes and the primary thread of Sierra Chart is in a nonresponsive state, for the number of seconds specified by the Non-responsive Time in Seconds Setting, then it will be terminated and a dump file will be created.

The location and format of the dump file is as follows: \CrashReports\ProgramName.#####.dmp

The dump file can be useful to Sierra Chart development. However, do not provide dump files to Sierra Chart support. We need to ask you for the dump file which would be a very rare occurrence.

Non-responsive Time in Seconds

This setting works in combination with the Write Crash Dump and Terminate on Not Responsive Primary Thread setting. Non-responsive Time in Seconds specifies the number of seconds that the primary thread must be nonresponsive before the process is terminated and the dump file is created.
