Your subject says "loading for the first time". If you never opened a chart for NQ, then Sierra Chart has to download all the historical data, which can be 1.5 GB per quarter of intraday data for NQ. (Just look at the size of the SCID files). Depending on your chart settings, and your internet connection, it can take a while to download everything the first time. The next time you open the chartbook, it will be read from disk, but it will be faster, since disk reads, even from HDD, are usually faster than the datafeed. Any missing data is downloaded to bring you current.
If you see more carefully in my first post in this thread I write "..after I have opened Sierra Chart for the first time for the day". So this is what I meant. |
