Left is sub instance, bars update. Right is primary instance, only DOM updates, not bars on chart.

Only step to reproduce is disconnect brokerage connection externally (TWS).

When you disconnect from TWS, then it is normal for you to not be able to get the data from Sierra Chart.

We are a bit confused as to why it appears you are getting some updates to your Sub-Instance.

But, in general, if you have a need to do charting when you are not connected to Interactive Brokers, then you will need to set your Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Main Settings >> Current Selected Service to SC Data - All Services.

Just make sure that you translate the symbols when you switch your service settings. When you select OK on the Data/Trade Service Settings window you will get a prompt to change the symbols - you should select Yes. If you do not, or if you need to do the translation later (such as for another chartbook) then you can do this by selecting Edit >> Translate Symbols to Current Service.

You should then be receiving the real-time data from our data feed. Just keep in mind that if you are getting non-professional data from the CME Group, then you need to connect to your IB account at least once a month. Refer to the following:

When disconnected from TWS, data is still coming in from Sierra Chart, as you can see the price level is updating on the chart from SC Denali. Only the bars are not being drawn in the primary instance.

In the sub instances the only difference is the bars are also being drawn on the chart.

Switching data service and translating symbols manually is too difficult for this, TWS could always lose connectivity. Is it possible to just have the chart bars update from SC Denali in the primary instance the same way they do in the sub instances?

Sierra Chart will not receive any market data after selecting File >> Disconnect . There is no other possibility unless you are deliberately sharing a Data folder which has serious consequences which will not help with.

Only the bars are not being drawn in the primary instance.

We are not sharing data folders. The Denali data continues updating price in all instances (this is good, because TWS could go down or need to be shut down for risk management), but SC does not draw new chart bars with the price updates in the Primary instance.

To reproduce simply open a chart in primary and subinstance with Denali, and exit TWS (we need to do this for risk management purposes).
