Hi Support Team,

I recently just switched to 'Denali - Activated Exchange: Full CME Group (CME, CBOT, COMEX, NYMEX) with Market Depth for nonprofessional Trading accounts'. I'm having a hard time viewing my VIX chart. I checked settings and contract date but the window just remains empty. I reviewed the support link provided (Is Historical and Real-time Futures Data Included?), but could not find a solution. As seen in the SS, the rest of the charts in the chartbook are receiving real time data. Any reason as to why is this just happening to the VIX chart?

The reason you are not getting data for VIX is because you are not setup to receive any data for VIX.

But, before we can tell you how to set it up, we need to know if you are wanting the VIX Index or the VIX Futures. These are two different items and are on two different exchanges.

--

Separately, we noticed that you had the following exchanges active:
- Full CME Group (CME, CBOT, COMEX, NYMEX) with Market Depth for nonprofessional Trading accounts
- CME non-professional top-of-book

We deactivated the "CME non-professional top-of-book" for your account, as you do not need this exchange since it is covered by the other option you have activated.

If you were wanting a different set of exchanges enabled, then be sure to deactivate the exchange that is active today and then activate the exchange(s) you want tomorrow (October 1, 2022). You do not want to activate any exchanges today as you will pay the full price for the exchange for just today (the exchanges are not pro-rated).

Any exchange that you "deactivate" will continue to give you data through the end of the month, you are just setting it to not renew on the first of the next month.

Hi John,

Thanks for deactivating that data.

I'm just trying to utilize the VIX index. I just activated 'Denali - Activated Exchange: CFE Market Depth', but to no avail.

The CFE is the VIX futures.

In order to get the VIX index you need to use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed and enable the CBOE Indices. Then you will be able to open a chart for $VIX.

Refer to the following instructions:
Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed: Setup Instructions

Remember to deactivate the CFE exchange if you do not want the VIX futures. You will continue to have access to the data through the rest of October, but then you will not get charged for the exchange again in November.

Hi John,

Can you share the link to activate CBOE Indices. I'm not able to find it in the 'Activate Service' page within the SC website. Thanks!

It is in a different location, as it is part of the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed. Follow the instructions at the following link to get it setup:
