How can I have Tradovate CQG and Apexfunding Account setup at the same time?

Hi there,

I currently have a tradovate account set up through Sierra Chart with CQG. I'm doing this in order to pay the lowest price I can for the data. Currently on the $3.50/mo plan + Denali 11 ($46/mo). I use Tradovate to execute my orders.

My goal is to start an Apex Trader Funding account (https://apextraderfunding.com/) so I can start their evaluation. They use Rithmic is what I am led to believe. I am open to using Sierra Chart DOM to execute my orders but I'm not sure how to best set this up without messing things up.

What is the easiest way to accomplish trading my Apex Trader Funding Account through Sierra Chart?

Thank you
-Spencer

You would want to install a second Sierra Chart on the same computer. Then in this new installation setup the connection to your Apex account. Since you are setup to get the Denali data, you would get the Denali data to both installations.

Refer to the following for how to install a second Sierra Chart:

And refer to the following for how to connect to Rithmic:

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, I did a couple hours of research and I just keep opening up new cans of worms the further I get. My setup is very concise with tradovate and sierra chart side by side and I would like to try to immitate that using just Sierra Chart but it seems near impossible.

I have 2 screens, one for my Sierra Chartbook main window (2tabs: Footprint and TPO + MP) and one for Tradovate. They are side by side to be efficient and be able to read 4 main components (Footprint, DOM, TPO+MP, and Time and Sales).

I tried to accomplish this on Sierra but the windows are not easily detached and some windows such as the Trade Window and Time and Sales just float and don't attach anywhere. Then, I've tried opening up separate instances with the "New Instance" feature, and yet once I shut down the program I'm not sure how to reaccess the 2nd instance from last time. I do not want to have to redo my setup everytime I open the program up.

All in all, pretty frustrated and confused. But it is what it is I guess. I will likely have to resort to just using Ninja trader and learning that platform.

You can setup multiple windows within the Sierra Chart software by un-maximizing the charts and then adjusting them. Or you can use the Tiling options under the Window menu. Refer to the information starting here:
Window and CW Menus: Cascade (Window)

If you prefer to have them detached from the main window, then refer to the information here for how to detach a window:
Detaching and Attaching Chart Windows

You are correct that there are a few windows that are always detached and can not be attached such as the Time and Sales. But the Trade Window can be attached - refer to the following:
Trade Menu: Attach Trade Window To Chart Window (Trade menu)

In terms of Sub-Instances - the first time you start a New Instance it copies the files from the main instance, so it will look familiar, but it has it's own instance number, which starts at 2 and then each instance started while others are running gets a new number. Then, when you start a new instance again, it is going to start with #2 then #3 and so on.

You can also have sub-instances start automatically when you log into Sierra Chart, like you can do with Chartbooks. You can then define which numbered instance starts. Refer to the information here:
General Settings Window: Instances to Run on Startup (Global Settings >> General Settings >> General >> New Instances)

Okay, thanks for the response. I'll have to dive deeper. I tried Ninjatrader 8 today and it is complete garbage compared to your platform.

I think I've figured mostly everything out. Last thing is market depth. I've activate the market depth with CME for non professional accounts. It was $11/mo. Do I still need the $3.5/mo option or can I deactivate?

Nevermind, now I'm getting issues again. I have two instances of Sierra Chart open. It was working fine until I updated the market data. Now I'm unable to connect the data feed. I've tried restarting computer and disconnecting/reconnecting again.

It's basically stuck in yellow.. trying to connect and keeps popping up the message log.

From the little we can see, it looks like you are having an issue connecting to Rithmic. It could be an issue on the Rithmic side if you have two different connections trying to be made. You would have to check this with Apex to make sure.

We would really need to see the entire log to know for sure that this is a Rithmic thing. Refer to the following for how to get us your Message Log:

With regards to the exchanges - if you only need data from the CME exchange, then you would not need the Full CME Group for Non-Professionals. But, if you want to get data for the COMEX, NYMEX and CBOT without Market Depth, in addition to the CME exchange with Market Depth, then keep the exchanges as you currently have them.

Okay, I will try a few things. And regarding the question above that. Do I need the $3.5/mo option if I get the $11/mo option or can I just do the $11/mo option. I want everything the $3.5/mo option offers + market depth for the e-mini.
