Program is not responding when I try to start it. Check attached image please. I have tried to restart my laptop, updating software on my laptop, initiating the program in safe mode, initiating the program without "open files on startup", but issue persists. Please help, thanks |

Try opening Sierra Chart with "Safe Mode" enabled and with "Open Files on Startup" disabled. Refer to the following and the section after it for how to do this: Sierra Chart - Software Login Instructions: Using Safe Mode We suspect that Sierra Chart will open properly and not stop working. Then try opening one chartbook at a time to see if there is a particular chartbook that is giving you issues. When you start Sierra Chart in Safe Mode and without automatically opening Chartbooks, you still get the software in a "Not Responding" state? In general, the window should look similar to what your image looked like, as there are not charts open, but it should not be "Not Responding". Please double check this by trying to select File >> Open Chartbook and see if you can open a chartbook. Then see if the program becomes completely unresponsive or not. Correct, I can't perform any action, it says "Not Responding" as soon as I start the program

You might try downloading SC again into a new directory and see if a clean version of SC will open. Make sure you are opening the "clean" version.

This must be a system-level issue. Makes no sense at all. Do a new installation of Sierra Chart into a different folder on your system. Do you still notice this? I stored a back up of SC in an USB flash drive for emergencies about 2 months ago. I installed the back up and updated the program and it works fine, the original SC is still not responding. I guess the issue is solved now. Should I delete the original SC? |

No do not delete this. We would want to get the Sierra4.config file from that installation and test it. You can attach that file here.

Here it is. Please let me know if there's any way to fix it. I prefer the original installation since it has my latest customization, thanks

This is what I would do: Make another USB copy of the updated SC file that works (just in case) Go to the link below and decide what files you want. Transferring Sierra Chart Settings and Data From Existing Installation to New Installation: Transferring Sierra Chart Settings and Data From Existing Installation to New Installation Take 1 file at a time from your non-working SC directory and install in your new installation and make sure everything works. Then do another file: wash, rinse, repeat. At least this way you can hopefully isolate the file that is the issue, if any, it might just be something got corrupted. We are still not able to reproduce this. Can you zip up all the files and folders in the Sierra Chart installation folder except for the Data folder , Backups folder and Logs folder. You can also exclude the EXE and DLL files. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users.
