Hello,

I am wondering if there is a way to put background color behind the entire area of a specific volume profile? Would be a good way to distinguish multiple volume profiles on the same chart, or even distinguish between days. Please see attachment, example from NT.

BE button issues: no matter what I do with the settings for BE button, I can't get it to close the position with the entry price + 1 tick. This is for an OCO order with a Stop market for stop loss, and a target price (Limit). Also, if I change the option to Move ALL stops to breakeven, then nothing would happen altogether.

Best Upkeep Practices: I have reviewed documentation about freezing issues etc. It is pretty comprehensive, and as a new user, I am already experiencing slow downs. Is there a summarized version of best practices document that I can use and trouble shoot slow downs and freeze issues.

Multiple Accounts: I have AMP (CQG data) and IBKR (Not hooked up yet). I have also signed up for Denali datafeed in package 11. My understanding is that all the accounts can be hooked up, and as long as we select the correct account during a trade all else is handled by SC automatically? Meaning I don't need to switch datafeeds, or make other considerations as long as I select the correct account while trading? My understanding is that Denali datafeed does not execute orders, so CQG or IBKR would need to be active and connected to execute orders in those accounts. Does that mean CQG data cannot be hooked up to another device at the same time (let's say another charting software) and still have the ability to execute orders for the AMP account in SC?

Thank you for your help in advance.

1. There is not a way to color the background as you are asking in the attached image. You can, however, display the bounding box showing the coverage of the Volume by Price profile. Refer to the following setting:
Volume By Price Study: Draw Profile Outline Enclosing Bars

You can also use the Color Background Based on Alert Condition study and specify the alert by the time period you want to color. Refer to the following:
Color Background Based on Alert Condition

2. You should not be having any issues with the Move to Breakeven. In order to get it to move to +1, you need to have the offset set. Refer to the following:
Basic Trading and the Trade Window: Set >> Move to BE Offset

Let us know if you still have an issue and the specific problem and how you are experiencing it.

3. With regards to best performance, refer to the following:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.48 - Basic Steps to Resolve Performance Issue in Sierra Chart

4. The best way to connect to different trading services is to have multiple Sierra Chart installations (one for CQG and one for IBKR). Refer to the following:
Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time

You will get your Denali data into both instances without an issue as long as they are on the same computer.

We are not sure what you mean by this:
Does that mean CQG data cannot be hooked up to another device at the same time (let's say another charting software) and still have the ability to execute orders for the AMP account in SC?

Thank you for your response. I have some follow up questions about properly setting up SC. Thank you for your help in advance.

1- BE function: I continue to have issues with the BE button regardless of what I have for offset. For a 1 target (limit) and 1 Stop (Market stop) OCO, if the position is in the red, the Stop market executes immediately. The setting is set on move the closest stop to breakeven, (the other option does not do anything at all). It makes sense if it tries to bring the Stop market to breakeven and executes it on the spot (Not at breakeven or any predefined offset levels). So I am not sure exactly what the BE button is supposed to do in the presence of a stop market order in an OCO.

2- I have two chartbooks open in two separate screens. Orders placed on one, do not show up on the other one. The proper setting seem have been selected for showing orders and chart trading being enabled.

3- Curious as to any existing best practices to use SC with stocks. For example, I don't think having a separate chartbook for each symbol would make sense.

4- Is there a possibility of "symbol linking" between platforms? Ex. TC2000 (for equity market/scanners/watchlists) linked to SC in order to trade/further analysis with IBKR as the broker? For example, if I click on a symbol in TC2000 watchlist, SC would automatically load the stock ready for trading through IBKR?

Thank you

1. If we are understanding you correctly, your position is at a loss and then you are selecting "Move to Breakeven". Ignoring the offset for the moment, this would definitely close your position, as the Breakeven point is your original position buying point (assuming one buy order), which would be above the current price level.

The offset could change where this lands exactly, but the offset would have to be large enough and negative to end up with the stop below the current price.

2. Assuming that the chartbooks are from the same instance of Sierra Chart, then the other thing to check is that the chart that is not showing the position is also in Trade mode. Make sure that the option Trade >> Chart Trade Mode On is enabled (has a check next to it). Refer to the following:
Trade Menu: Chart Trade Mode On (Trade menu)

3. The same practices that apply to using Sierra Chart with Futures applies to Stocks. The main thing is figuring out what works best for you. Also refer to the following section for general information on how to maximize the performance of Sierra Chart:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.48 - Basic Steps to Resolve Performance Issue in Sierra Chart

4. No, there is no support for this.

Thank you for your response.

1- I fail to see the value of BE button then. I have worked with BE orders on other platforms, but can't seem to figure out the function of BE button on SC if it is price dependent. To me, it should remove all orders, and place an exit order (Stop, or Limit) at the entry price (+/- offset). What I am hearing is that, if the price is below (long position), it would execute the Stop Loss market order on the spot, and if it is above, then it puts it where it was entered (ignoring offset). Please clarify if I am wrong.

2- The two chartbooks are on two different monitors, and after reviewing the documentation, having the second chart book as a new instance seemed to be the recommended set up (each chart book has two charts active). The settings are set to Trade>>Chart Trade Mode On. I am testing (paper trading) and orders on one chartbook do not show up on the other chartbook (second screen). Any way to get orders to show up on both?

3- I have two chartbooks open, with two charts within each. I am only viewing one symbol (ES), I still experience frequent freezes, typically when I click on a menu button. Specifically, it tends to freeze if I click on "Chart" or "Tools" menu up top. I see no reason for it, as my usage seems to be light compared to SC's capabilities, and I have a powerful PC. This is a concern for me.

Lastly, I have 2 brokerages (IBKR, AMP (CQG data)). I have signed up for Denali data feed as well. My goal is to be able to trade each account at my discretion. It would seem counter productive to install and open a copy of SC for each brokerage, especially because I trade the same symbol most of the time, and I am already experiencing regular freezing without a second copy installed as mentioned above. Is it possible to pick which account to trade simply by using the drop down menu? Would it be possible to have these data feeds all connect to the same chartbook to allow this? In the presence of multiple data feeds (CQG/IBKR/Denali) do I still have any advantage using the Denali data feed?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Another day, another issue:

-My second screen that was originally set up as an instance and was connected to CQG no longer updates data: error message is "Symbol is unknown, click for symbol information. Symbol Error ESU21-CME is unknown,, unavailable or improperly formatted, symbol is invalid during SubscribeToSymbolDOM.
Things were working last week, not anymore. Reviewing the documentation did not solve the problem as it was not this way before, so I doubt it is a permission issue.

-I had experimented connecting the second screen to my Denali datafeed, and thought it was working fine, now that is showing delayed data, so back to CQG which has this issue all of a sudden.

-Also, a symbol like ES has an incorrect evening session set up as default setting (4:15PM end time across all chartbooks), I assumed that data gets updated automatically when the exchange changes things? I manually set them to 17:00 end and 18:00 start time, but would be much better if it was an automatic update.

-Hoping to end up having a smooth software day once I get through these hurdles.

This is very unusual. We have never seen this before.

We would need to see the Message Log, but we think the problem is you do not have any exchanges active with the Denali Exchange Data Feed if you are not using CQG data. You can do this here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=ServicesActivation#DenaliExchangeDataFeed

Let us know if you need help with activating exchanges.

We will look this over.

We will get to your second to last post above as soon as possible.
