Hi,

I can load the intraday chart for btcusd and btcusdt pair on Binance, however when I try to add volume profile to it Sierra freezes and stops responding. I am only trying to load 30 days of data so I am not sure what the issue is?

Bearing in mind when I load volume profile on ES or WTI from CME it works fine.

What is your [/b]Volume Graph Period Type[/b] set to?

Don't know if this will help or not. I tried using the Volume Point of Control for Bars with cryptos but loading takes forever. But check the volume on BTC. It's usually in the mid to upper 10's of millions. ES is usually around 1.2 million. I have an 8 core CPU and 32 gig of memory and it still bogs things down.

I was trying to load it with the variable "Multiple Profiles from Start time to End time"
I am also trying to load the tpo chart for it currently, on 40% after about an hour. Will see what happens at the end

I'm just thinking with all the calculations required for volume analysis and the HUGE volume in cryptos it may take a very very very fast PC to process in a timely fashion.

Yeah quite possibly, that tpo chart has ended up just freezing sierra charts. I assumed any ordinary PC would be okay as it's offered on there. I guess not if that's the issue

What TriStar Trading states is correct - the large volumes and number of trades mean that it is going to take some time to calculate. We would expect it eventually complete, but it will take awhile.

Unfortunately upon completion the screen goes blank and freezes (as pictured)

Part of the problem is that it is constantly trying to update the current profile, which then takes too long. If you want to try and increase the calculation you would need to change the Ticks per Volume Bar and the Intraday Storage Time Unit. Refer to the following:
Volume By Price Study: Ticks Per Volume Bar

Data/Trade Service Settings: Intraday Data Storage Time Unit (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Common Settings)

Because Binance's datafeed (I've used several other software programs via API to trade it outside of their crappy interfaces) transmits in many decimals, example: 1.23312 BTC, and SC is setting the tick automatically based on the datafeed (in chart settings, first tab), any volume by price study added must take into account these decimals. It is not the number of transactions per se that is the issue, rather, the tick size because you are asking Sierra Chart to calculate many decimals of Volume by Price. This is something most software will program for, but alas, the beauty and difficulty of Sierra is that they let you manipulate this, often to your own detriment.

So, easy solution is:

1. Go into your chart settings and set the ticks like I have attached (1), deselect auto-set from datafeed. (see attachment "BTC Binance")
2. Go select your volume by price study, but when you add it as a study, DO NOT APPLY IT until you have set your Ticks Per Volume Bar to 10. If you apply first, then you go into spin mode. :P (see attachment "BTC Volume By Price 10 ticks"

That is so awesome. Great post. I only use the Volume Point of Control for Bars but it works perfect now. Thanks!!

The chart Tick Size needs to be increased. Refer to:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.23 - Chart Tick Size and Volume at Price Processing (Section 30.23)

Thank you Trade_your_plan for the useful info.
The point now is that intraday data and historical data on Binance doesn't go very far
What feed could we use with Sierra to have more historical?
tks
