We are aware of the problem with the Denali Data feed CME Group Market Data Feed Interruption with some servers for the first hour of 2021-04-11. This is now resolved. We are working filling in the missing historical data.

This only affected one server and is a highly unusual circumstance, and is the first time we have had an incident like this with the Denali data feed. It relates to apparently an update with the historical data server program on our servers last week.

The problem definitely relates to historical data downloads which affected the relaying of real-time data. There were many pending downloads that were not finishing.

We have not had an incident like this before. The cause is still not clear at this time. We assumed it related to a software update last week but perhaps not.

Also since this affected just one server, you could have selected File >> Disconnect and File >> Connect to Data Feed and that would have resolved the problem for most users but not all. You would have been changed to the next available server. It might have been necessary to do this more than once though.

We will make a change so in all cases there will be an iteration to the next server, for all users.

Once again this is an extremely unusual issue and it is not something which we have had before.

We have not been responding to the posts on this board because we have been working on the issue. That is the reason. It takes time to respond to the posts when there are many of them. We have to focus on the issue and get it resolved.

And we do know that this is not good. We do recommend the Denali data feed and that is the best data feed there is and this is not a good incident to have an interruption for some of our users during the first 50 minutes Sunday evening. This is the first time we had an incident like this. We acknowledge that.

Our normal monitoring processes, did not catch this kind of issue. Previous to this, we have had 100% uptime with the Denali feed. And this issue just affected one server.

Regarding this issue, based upon further analysis, and we will look at this further, this has been determined to be a filesystem I/O performance issue at the time. Why that developed that Sunday evening we do not know.

We then distributed the files among multiple drives and we also disabled the downloading of historical data on data feed startup Sunday evening which is not necessary because there is nothing to download prior anyway. The data feed processes are so reliable, that there is not a need to download historical data, upon connection because they are always up and running. So with this change, this problem will not happen again.

The Denali Data Feeds started up without any issue today. And we are not observing any data file performance issues.

We implemented a definite solution to this problem by not downloading Intraday data for each symbol being tracked, on startup. Since there is nothing to download since there is no missing data to begin with.

In the very rare instances we do have to do that, we can do the downloads manually through Edit >> Bulk Historical Data Download.
