hi, I use amp, CQG as a broker, but I use the Denali exchange as well as sierra charts market depth. I have a friend that doesn't play for the Denali nor sierra charts market depth data, yet he is still able to use the system. should I be paying for both of these? or have I been overpaying for months.

secondly-> my friend uses CQG data, and his levels for pulling and stacking on the dom are vastly different than mine, despite us having the same settings. his data seems to be more clear and show far more pulling than mine does, and I was wondering why this is.

thanks

We can not say. It is a personal issue based on how you trade. If you do not use the Market Depth, then you would not need it.

If you decide to change your exchange option, just be aware that you are charged the full amount for the month whenever you activate the exchange. So you would want to "Deactivate" your current exchange now, which just sets it to not automatically renew next month - you will still get the data through the remainder of this month. Then on April 1, you would activate the new exchange.

We assume this is a different friend, as the one above does not have Market Depth, therefore would not have the pulling/stacking capability.

Most likely this is just due to the Chart Update Interval as his DOM may update more frequently. The best way to look at this is to open a Trading DOM and then update the Chart Update Interval on just that Trading DOM (select Chart >> Chart Settings on the Trading DOM window), so you are not affecting the overall chart. Refer to the information here:
Chart Settings: Chart Update Interval in Milliseconds (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Display >> Chart Update Interval menu)

i was under the impression that i had to pay for the denali exchange, is this true? because data though CQG is cheaper.

second:
in the case of the pulling and stacking, i am using the same dom as this friend of mine, but the data that we are getting for pulling and stacking is vastly different when all our settings are the same. this is what i was wondering, does it have something to do with the brokers?

When you were using the Sierra Chart Order Routing Service you did have to get your data through us. Now that you are using CQG, you could get the data from CQG, although we do recommend staying with the Sierra Chart data. We have much more historical data and it is guaranteed to work with Sierra Chart since it is our own data feed. Overall we have seen lots of issues with CQG data and do not like the impression that it can give that it is a Sierra Chart issue.

It definitely can be related to the data feed. And you would also need to be careful of when you added the Pulling/Stacking to the chart if you are looking at data that is further away from the current price.

This is because of the CQG data feed and with CQG this data is not going to be accurate and our information page for CQG does say that. It is not at all related to the Chart Update Interval.

I had a similar issue when comparing my footprint charts with a friend. He uses CQG and I use Denali. Finally I figured out the problem. Go to: Global Settings >> Data/Trade service settings click on the second tab Common settings and set Intraday data storage time unit to 1 tick. I bet its currently set to 1 second, which is what is causing your issue.

Let me know if that solved your problem.

Definitively that setting has no relevancy at all to Pulling and Stacking calculations.
