6E charts have stalled and new data won't appear on all of these specific charts. Of course tried "delete and refresh data" which updates the chart but the dynamic process of new data appearing is still halted.

That did not work. CTS feed for 6E(euro symbol listed as CME_Fo-6E-CME_20130600_6EM3)is simply not updating unlike the rest of the symbols using CTS, yet Rithmic feed for 6E is properly updating. Sometimes there is an orange box that states "unknown symbol...." yet this is the only symbol for the 6E listed when one does a search. 6E was updating fine for CTS, and now all of a sudden it is not even after SC was upgraded to 965. |

It looks as though you have done some hand modification to the CTS T4 symbols. Please avoid that because these are very specific and case-sensitive. This is the apparent source of the problem. You have an incorrect case in the symbols. At this point, what you need to do is go to every single chart you have open and go to Chart >> Chart Settings. Use the Find button beside the Symbol box and reset the symbol. Do not make guesses as to what the symbol should be. Only work off of the given lists. You need to do this for every single chart. That never happened. 6E symbol was found on the list and selected using the 'find' button. Things were running fine. So I followed this instruction as directed, and am still getting same orange box error message. Again, whenever the 6E charts are loaded initially the data is up to date (even though the symbol is "unknown" via the orange box message) and the chart for this symbol will not automatically update after that. Reloading the data updates it but afterward it is not an automatic process. Not a computer programmer but it seems that something is wrong with the automatic updating process. Symbol updates when forced to reload but not after that. Why is there an error message stating "unknown symbol" because obviously the symbol is recognized to an extent that forced reloading works to update the data, only afterward this is not performed automatically. Isn't that a software issue? CTS emailed back and stated things are fine on their end. Thanks. |

This is the correct symbol: CME_Fo-6E-CME_20130600_6EM3 This one is not: CME_FO-6E-CME_20130600_6EM3 You have to look among all of your open charts and make certain you use the first symbol. After this, reconnect to the data feed with the commands on the File menu. We have confirmed this is the problem. We have done testing and we do not see how if the symbol is selected from the list, the O would become uppercase. If you did not hand modify it, we are not sure how it happened. All of the open charts ALREADY are denoted as having the symbol CME_Fo-6E-CME_20130600_6EM3 listed on them. None of the charts have the incorrect symbol. How did you confirm this as the problem when all of these charts already have the lowercase "o" and NOT the uppercase "O"(in other words I'm seeing something different than what you claim). Plus think about it, if these charts had the wrong symbol, then why are they able to be updated when forced using 'Edit/download data - intraday chart' feature? Likely need to delete and then re-install your product because I notice that every time you make programming changes to include features I don't need, issues occasionally occur and you have pre-warned everyone that this could happen. |

When you reinstalled, did you re-create the charts? pre-warned everyone that this could happen. We would have to see where this was said. It is highly unlikely this was said and it must be out of context. There could be a change with a study or with some particular feature like ACSIL and if there is some affect with existing usage of the feature, we would make this known in the What's New page and specifically what needs to be done. A general statement like this is just not correct at all.No matter what the case of the letters in the symbol are, the historical data requests to CTS T4 do work, this was confirmed. However, the real-time data request to the T4 system does not work. This was also confirmed. This is why you see what you do. We have also now confirmed, that the case of the symbol will not be changed by Sierra Chart. If you look in the Message Log above, you will see different cases for the symbol. Another possibility is that the uppercase character existed on a Quote Board, Quote Spreadsheet, or in the Global Settings >> Intraday File Update List. A reinstall definitely was not necessary. If you continue to have a problem what we would have done was ask for your Chartbooks that you are using and checked them all. No the charts were not re-created. Unbelievably, the issue occurred again after turning on the computer later today. Same orange colored message (unknown symbol..). Yes, 6E updating worked after re-installing, and then it didn't later. But you mentioned that other possibility is that the upper case character could exist on another area of SC, which it did on the quote board. Deleted it from the quote board, restarted SC and so far no orange colored message along with proper updating. So what I've observed is an incorrect symbol on the quote board can halt updating of all 10 6E charts(which observantly already had the proper symbols)? What makes it interesting is that the quote board was on a different chartbook than where the 6E charts were located. Very aware that SC is an excellent program for trading securities(speed, feature-rich, great price). Just surprised at this situation, otherwise very satisfied. Thanks |
