This has happened to me about 10 times so far. I'm on the latest version of SC. I checked this morning to make sure. On a 20-0 reversal chart with number bars enabled, the number bars will exceed the line but no alert is sounded and no email recieved. The line does not turn black either. I have it set for a post action. WHITE lines are untriggered. BLACK lines are triggered, and then send a email and make a noise. I'd like to state that this has JUST started happening in the last week as price action has gone nuts and the markets are moving EXTREMELY fast. When it was slow, I never had a issue. The problem is quite clear. When you are using "Equal To" for the Comparison to Drawing, it becomes much less likely that the condition will occur especially in a fast market.

What should I use? Crossing? I tried that today and a number of alerts didn't fire either.

Seems as though you should be using Above or Below.

Right, but that won't work. I'd have to have TWO buttons and if I place alerts below price, choose the ABOVE button, and if I place alerts above price, choose the BELOW button. That's never going to work as I'm setting 50 alerts a day and they need to be reliable. Wouldn't you think CROSSING would be perfect? But it's not working 100% of the time. |

Crossing is going to compare the chart bars crossing the line. So the comparison involves 2 chart bars.

IDK what happened but your alerts are BROKEN. They used to always work, now it's hit and miss. This is a 20-0 Reversal chart with number bars. You can clearly see that the price went below the line and CROSSED it. No alert. I didn't get a email and the line did not turn black. No sound. This is causing me to miss trades and miss profit. Please investigate this. You can see that it took a bar to break the alert BY ALOT to actually trigger it. That's alert5 image. |

The explanation for the problem is documented here along with a solution: Chart Drawing Tools: Chart Drawing Alert Not Triggering When Expected The most durable solution though in your case for the type of alert you are looking for is to not use a Cross Comparison but instead use Low is Below the line.
