Question on Account Balance at AMP updating with TTFIX Order Routing

Yes, I am now able to place orders...thank you!!

I have placed a couple orders this morning to test out. It looks like those orders got executed, however, there has been no update in my account balance.

Is there a way to verify these orders and/or P&L?

The account balance data is requested from TT about every minute but if it is not updating it means that it is not updating on the TT side for reasons which we do not know .

I'm using the SC Order Routing service cleared through AMP. It seems to take at least 15-30 minutes for the updated account balance to show up (without accounting for commissions). The commissions don't seem to be deducted at all until AMP runs their nightly report.

The account balance also shows some odd numbers in that 15-30 minute window. I haven't done the math to see how exactly they're reporting, but it looked like it could be (previous balance) - (margin required for trade) + (profit/loss from trade).

So, a $150 gain on a $400 margin ES trade with $4 rt commission would look like:
10000-400+150 = $9750 balance immediately
$10150 after 15-30 minutes
$10146 overnight

I do remember that my very first trade with this service took a while to show any balance updates at all. All later trades worked like described above.

SC, you guys request the balance from TT. Do you know if TT gets the balance from AMP or does TT track it themselves? I'm wondering if switching FCMs would provide better reporting.

We do not have much insight into this but we think that TT has various models they make available for account balances to the clearing firms. In some cases the clearing firms may directly update the balances. At least the cash balance.

We will look at the processing of the data from TT to see if we can make some improvement in the individual fields. For example the cash balance should not go down when a position is entered. Only the margin requirement should change.

I just wanted to add that I am also having this issue where the account balance is not updating for a long time. This isn't helped by AMP not having a real time reporting function. I understand from the above that this isn't a Sierra Chart issue, but it would be awesome if some discussions could be had with TT to get this sorted.

This is out of our control. It will not help to have any discussion with them on this. They did indicate they will be offering streaming account balance updates at some point but we have no idea when that would be.

At the present time slow account balance updates is an inherent limitation of the Sierra Chart order routing service.

The definitive resolution to this will be when we offer our direct order routing to the CME which will not involve TT in any way. That is currently being worked on. The less questions we get on this Support Board the more time we can finish with that.

To speed up account balance updates, You need to change the Primary Server (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Service Setting) to Server 1 or 4.

There is a slight increase in order routing latency of about 1.5 ms using those servers.
