SC Data Feed - no real-time

I/ my SC account am subscribed and enabled for 3 separate instances of SC and 3 separate instances of the SC data feed

When one of my SC instances is connected directly and only to the SC data feed, I do not get Real-time Data from SC

When the SC instance is connected to Interactive Brokers with support for SC data feeds enabled, I do get real time data from SC ie I see the [m] too

The above also means that have connected SC "at least once per month to a funded IB account" as per the instructions from SC. However as soon as I connect the SC instance directly and only to the SC data feed, it stops receiving real-time data from SC. Why is that and how do I overcome it?

this is an effect observed when there is a second SC instance running on a separate machine and connected to IB with support for SC data enabled. So to recap that would mean that there are 2 SC instances trying to connected to SC data at the same time - and that should be possible and not interfere, since my SC account is enabled / subscribed for 3 SC instances and 3 SC data feeds

1. You would need to connect each of your instances to IB at least once a month.

2. If you are connecting directly to "SC Data - All Services", make sure that you are not using IB specific symbols.

User's response:

1. You would need to connect each of your instances to IB at least once a month.

already done - and as already clearly explained in the initial ticket submission ....

2. If you are connecting directly to "SC Data - All Services", make sure that you are not using IB specific symbols.

I am a 5 year SC client, mate. I do know the differences between symbols from different data feeds ....

basically I have a strong suspicion that your Infrastructure for multiple SC instances and multiple data feed connections does NOT work for the case when SC is supposed to connect directly to SC datafeed (and mind you, as explained below - only 1 min earlier I connected it to IB ... so that's not the problem)

Go check in the logs of your market data infrastructure why it is not sending me real-time data when a SECOND SC is connected directly to it - I am paid for 3 SC instances and 3 data feeds ....

and the new feature for getting Option Chains from IB in SC doesn't work properly either - but that's obviously a separate issue - we can tackle it once the one here has been resolved

Tell us one of the symbols that is not receiving real-time data and just one symbol only.

I have repeated every step and this time managed to get a Real-Time SC data feed for my second SC instance - most likely there is some sort of "lead time" after the initial IB connection for the direct SC feed to get validated and allowed - this issue is now working for me

On a separate note - I think there are issues with the new SC feature for getting IB Options Chains in SC - see the last record below - this is the error message generated when I try to get the option chains for the CURRENT (March) ES contract and nothing comes back. However if it try the next expiration then I do get a list of Options. But then the option symbols don't seem to be able to go in SC chart - I will send you the respective error messages - lets resolve first this one

No there is not. The instance of Sierra Chart connected to a live futures trading account, gets instantly authorized to receive CME data.

Just make sure you are running the current version of Sierra Chart. If you are still having a problem we do not see how we can help with this further. We have observed this as well for stocks. Yet the parameters are correct. We just cannot help with it.

and here is the mess when you select an Option from the Option Chain (which is ONLY returned for the NEXT expiration date of the underlying futures contract - ES in this case - basically the feature for IB Option Chains doesn't work)

For some reason we did not include the strike price. Surprising this has not been noticed until now.

This is resolved and we will have new release out later today.

ok but I have not yet heard anything from you about why SC doesn't pull the Option Chain for the current futures contract e.g. the ES - I have tested that with both the latest IB TWS and the latest SC and no brother it aint working

it only pulls the Option Chain for e.g. the next expiration ie ES June but not for the current expiration which is ES Mar

It works consistently reliable for us. Refer to the attachment. So if you are not getting the options list, this is going to be an issue on the TWS side.

I happen to be a software engineer - the above translated in "human speak" says that IB TWS is not happy with the "Request ID: 1000002" sent by ... you guess it from 3 times who it was sent by

We do not see how we can help with this. That is going to be an Interactive Brokers problem. We also do not see any problem getting the options for ES March 2019.
