A strange thing happened, I tried to place an order in simulation mode to stop into a short trade by placing the order in the chart DOM below the current price on the chart and it kept getting filled immediately. The only explanation I could find was that the Bid and Ask price at the top was not correct and did not change and the order was using that incorrect price and then filling the order. The time and sales data is correct and the Close price on the chart header is correct. This is true for all the stocks I have charts for however the futures charts are displaying the Bid and Ask prices correctly.

I recently updated the program and to try and solve the problem I manually deleted all the data records in the Data folder but the problem was still there when the new data was downloaded.

This must have been a problem with the Barchart US equities data feed. Tell us one of the symbols you are seeing this with and if you are currently seeing it now. We are not observing this at the time.

At 3:01 I still see TQQQ Bid 49.30 and Ask 49.31 same as before and the close is correct at 49.04. Maybe when I close it down and restart it later it will have fixed itself. I'll let you know tomorrow if it is still occurring.

The first thing we want you to do is to reconnect to the data feed:

I didn’t see your reply until later. It seems to be working correctly now, I deleted the TQQQ file before starting up the system again and I started in safe mode to start a new chart with TQQQ, I did that to try and eliminate anything that could have been connected with the TQQQ symbol previously. That worked, but it may have also worked if I just reconnected which is what normally happens when I shut down and restart later.

Since you mentioned reconnecting to the data feed, it reminded me of a problem I have during the early morning or the trading day, it does not happen overnight.

In simulation mode when I want to insert or edit a trade I have the Trade Activity Log open, I select a trade and go to the Edit > Edit Trade Activity Entry and nothing happens, the window does not open but it also stops me from being able to do anything else, like select a chart, etc. until I hit the ESC button to unfreeze the system.

What I do to get around this is several times I have to disconnect to make the edits because then the edit window will open and then reconnect again to be able to continue normally.

Maybe since I do that a few times it may have caused the problem with the Bid and Ask not displaying the correct values.

If you think it might be due to my system not being powerful enough during busy times, I thought I’d include what I’m working with to see if that may have something to do with it.

Intel Core i7 4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz
Ram: 12.0 GB
64-bit Operating System
Sierra is installed on a Western Digital External USB 3.0 hard drive.

I thought it was working when I looked at it overnight because the bid and ask changed, but now it is not updating with the correct information. I disconnected and reconnected the data feed and it updated the bid and ask to the correct value but then did not keep updating and stayed the same numbers. Also, it stopped updated everything at 7:15 so I reconnected and it updated the chart but the ask and bid stays the same again.

Right now it coincidentally looks correct Close 49.97 Ask 49.98 Bid 49.95 but I think as soon as the close changes the Ask and Bid will not update, I’ll write again to let you know if it keeps happening after the open.

TQQQ and other stock symbols such as UDOW and FAS are doing the same thing, not updating the bid and ask.

Reconnecting the data feed only updates them to the current correct value then the bid and ask stays the same until I reconnect again.

Okay we do not need any further information. We need to look at this using remote assistance. We called but got a message indicating you are not available.

Thank you for calling. I wanted to try a few things before doing a remote desktop. It seems to be working correctly now. I installed a new copy on another computer. Everything worked fine, the bid and ask updated as usual.

So then I installed a second copy on my regular computer and it worked so I copied over all my charts, study collections and twconfig files including the Sierra3 config, GlobalSymbolSettings, and the KeyboardShortcuts. Then the problem started again, no bid ask update.

I could write a long explanation of all the things I did including a third installation trying to narrow down the problem, but I won’t go through it all. I thought it might be the Sierra3 config file so I used a backup copy of it, but that wasn’t the problem, it turned out that the GlobalSymbolSettings.xml was not letting the bid ask update properly. That was the file that I needed to not replace after the new installation which is fine since I only modified it with commission information.

Yes we did suspect it was a Symbol Settings issue but at this point we are not sure exactly what the problem was. But anyway it is now working.
