Hello, I just updated to version 1773 x64. There was a thread on here last week about controlling the location of the text on the arrow tool, and support mentioned there would be a fix. I updated today hoping for that fix.

On my toolbars, I have some custom arrow tool configurations. After the update, as soon as I click on one of these custom tool configuration buttons, sierrachart crashes with what appears to be a null pointer dereference.

I'm attaching a dump.

Update: It looks like it's actually not just the custom tool configuration buttons causing a crash. Whenever I attempt to use the arrow tool at all, directly form the tools menu, I get a crash. I will need to roll back until this is addressed.

Thanks.

We did a quick test and cannot reproduce the issue.

We need you to provide your Sierra3.CFG file from the installation folder of Sierra Chart and attach it here. It contains no private information and it will be privately attached. Here are instructions:

One explanation for the problem is that you had been using a prerelease before the update and we may have inadvertently released an improper change related to this development, which later was corrected and that is causing a problem.

Anyway we need to see what the error is so we can resolve it in any case.

Anyway we need to see what the error is so we can resolve it in any case. So we do need your Sierra Chart global configuration file.

I have already downgraded back to version 1750. Does the Sierra3.cfg change with upgrade / downgrade? I attached the file I have now after downgrading, let me know if you need me to install the latest version and re-upload Sierra3.cfg.

Thanks for looking in to this so quickly!

No the configuration does not change with an update or a downgrade. At least not in a way which you might think. We still cannot reproduce the problem with your global configuration file and if there is a genuine problem we should have been able to reproduce it under the debugger.

So we are not sure why you are having an issue. If after updating again you still have the problem we recommend going back to a configuration file from perhaps two weeks ago. Here are the instructions:

Summary: I found the issue, it was chartbook related, and I was able to modify my chartbook to resolve the issue. I'm attaching a chartbook that should help you reproduce it in case you want to fix the actual bug.

Details:
ok guys. I tried upgrading again, and also various backup config files going all the way back to january. still crashes when trying to use any arrow tool. However, it seems chartbook related, as the arrow tool works if I start sierra chart fresh with no chartbooks open, open a single chart window, and use the arrow tool. no problems.

I spent about an hour troubleshooting my chartbook, getting it down to a bare minimum where the problem still persisted. I was able to narrow it down to a chart window that was marked as [hidden] (not sure what that means or how it got [hidden]?). This chart did not have a window anywhere but was listed in the "CW" menu bar of chart windows.

As long as this chart existed in the chartbook and was "[hidden]", selecting the arrow tool anywhere would crash. This chart did not have a window (attached or detached) but when I clicked on its name from the "CW" menu bar, it showed up as an attached window in the main sierrachart window. As soon as I "unhid" the chart this way, the arrow tool worked again. I then went back to my original chartbook, found this chart window and showed it, and that fixed the arrow problem.

I have attached a minimal workbook that should allow you to replicate the issue. Hope this helps.
