Sometimes but not always, no matter where I click on a chart, no matter how far away, it will activate a drawing tool that is on the chart, in this case, parallel lines and rays. This happens on all charts in all chart-books but only some of the time.

What you need to do is disable whatever drawing tool is active by selecting Tools >> Pointer.

You may also want to set:
Global Settings >> Tool Settings >> After Single Tool Use Change To, to Pointer

I have Tools >> set to ChartValues/Crosshair.
I have Global Settings >> Tool Settings >> After Single Tool Use Change To set to ChartValues.

These settings have been the same for ages but the issue with the activation of drawings has only started in the last few weeks.

I've had other glitchy behaviour in the past and the only way I could fix it was to delete Sierra and start with fresh data and a new chart-book, but that takes many hours to complete so it's only a last resort. One of the prior issues I had that I can remember was the Cross-hairs not activating on certain charts some of the time, you could click all you wanted but nothing happened.

Definitely do not do this. Instead contact us.

You should never have an issue like this if the Chart Values tool is selected on the Tools menu. It simply makes no sense whatsoever. No one has ever had a problem like this. There must be some other explanation.

Maybe we are misunderstanding this. Are there already these drawings on a chart? And they are getting selected even if you are not actually selecting them?

Basically the problems you describe are really unheard-of. We really think we have to set up a remote assistance session with you for us to see these. They make no sense from our perspective, and we cannot duplicate them.

Will you be able to likely demonstrate the problem to us at most anytime we call? Or is it very intermittent?

I'll see if I can otherwise if I can't I'll just clean install my OS and Sierra.

Reinstalling Sierra Chart is no solution at all. Do not bother with that. We understand Sierra Chart. This makes no technical sense. We will figure out what the issue is.

I'm afraid not. Can we set a time for Monday or Tuesday? What time zone are you in? I'm available from 9:30 to 12:00 EST. Or my mornings (South Africa, +2 SAST) but I don't think you're around then.

Yes Monday or Tuesday is fine and during that time range is fine as well.

We can make ourselves available in any time zone. This is not a limitation generally.

A weekend is also fine in your morning.

Just send us a reminder about 8 hours ahead of time here.

Would Monday at 10:30 am EST (New York) be convenient? My phone number has been updated and I have SC Team-Viewer on my PC. Is there anything else you need?

Yes this will be fine. We are putting this time on our calendar now.

The team viewer we will require you to use is downloaded through Help >> Accept Remote Assistance from within Sierra Chart.

One thing to know is that is an extremely busy time for us, so we cannot spend more than 10 or 15 minutes.

This issue is resolved. Update Sierra Chart following these instructions:
Software Download: Fast Update

The particular programmer who worked on this had inadvertently left in code for what we call hit detection for the parallel lines drawings, which was not meant for those types of drawings. This is what was causing the problem. It was making reference to invalid points.
