1. Make certain your computer's clock is set accurately. To at least within 10 seconds of the actual time.

2. Are you logged in using this FIX account from another copy of Sierra Chart or anywhere else?

Also if you contact API AT FXCM.com they can tell you the exact reason why the connection is being closed.

In our experience generally it is for the 2 reasons given

Clock is set correctly.

No, not logged in anywhere else.

In the instructions they sent, it did not mention a User Name. I called support at FXCM and they said it was the same as my account number. Can I send you a screenshot? It has my account number in it.

I did experience the same problem a couple of months ago. After contacting API@FXCM they reported back there was a setting error on their side. This was solved within 24hrs and worked flawless since.

please notice that you use port 8029:
>Connecting to FXCM FIX at address: fixreal.fxcorporate.com:8029 | 2013-08-14 19:48:15
at the same time FXCM sent me mail and said to use port 80.

in my case it also doesn't work, fails with error:
>Error connecting socket. Windows error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. | 2013-08-15 09:55:48
>FXCM FIX: Socket connection was closed without any logout messages sent or received. | 2013-08-15 09:55:48

but my problem is different, both FXCM support and SC support answered that due to some reasons I can't accept non-HTTP data on port 80... still investigating this, since I simply have standard DSL router connection and firewall was off..

FXCM has different port numbers that they use. If possible maybe FXCM can give you a different port number than 80.

The error that you are getting is different than what Gary is getting. They are getting what appears to be a graceful close of the socket immediately after the login message is sent. In your case, you cannot even get a connection to the FXCM server.

We have an idea about this login problem and that is it could be that we are sending the FIX logon message too quickly before the server is ready for it after it accepts the connection. This really should not be a problem and would indicate the server is not fast enough to respond. We have added a delay.

Please update to the very latest revision by selecting Help >> Download Prerelease and try connecting again.
