Disappearing bracket orders (stops and limits)

Hi,

I've noticed a problem recently, which I have not noticed in the previous years, that is causing significant issues for my trading.

When I place a bracket order, with regular stops and losses, on QM, I can initially see them on the DOM.
However, if I go to another a chart, then come back, the stops and limits have disappeared !
I do not know if the stops/limits are in place, and hence am unable to properly manage the trade

I am using CTS data feed via Top Step

When you no longer see the orders on the chart go to Trade >> Trade Orders and Positions >> Orders. What is the status of those orders?

Are they "Open"?

Also refer to this section here to make sure all of the related settings on the chart are correct:

The limit/stop are not displayed on the chart or any DOM's
The chart is correctly setup so it should show them

The only thing that does display is the original order position

This is not acceptable
Today it has cost me money because all the stops/limits disappeared, and I closed the trade because I had no idea where they are.
I know the limit/stop still exist because they are shown in my Rithmic Trader control panel

I have used Sierra Chart for a year with no problems
Now every single time I place a bracket order, the stop/limits are there initially, but disappear if there is a drop in internet connection, or I look at another chart.

The most dangerous thing for a trader is to have orders in the market which are not showing on the DOM or CHART

This is totally unacceptable

We did not get an answer to this question:

When you no longer see the orders on the chart go to Trade >> Trade Orders and Positions >> Orders. What is the status of those orders?

Are they "Open"?

Anyway, for us to be able to determine what the reason for the problem is, we need you to follow through the instructions here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/TradeActivityLogAnalysis.php#SupportAssistedTradeActivityLogAnalysis

There is no cost for this. So disregard to step relating to cost.

In regards to the Trade Activity Log file, you can just attach it here privately. Here are the instructions:

Hi,

Please find attached a trade activity log

I had buy orders (with brackets stops limits) on NQM7
They didn't fill because the market kept going up, and didn't go down to where the buy orders were

However, one minute they were on the chart and DOM, the next they completely vanished

I tried pressing 'flatten' but it said no orders existed

HOWEVER, I know the orders did exist, because I was unable to place new orders, because Sierra Chart told me I had reached my limit for open orders, which could only because it thought these 'disappearing' buy orders were still there. also on my Rithmic control panel it said I had the buy orders still open

SO. These orders disappear off the chart and DOM, so I can't manage or flatten them - HOWEVER they still exist at server level !!! This is very dangerous

P.S. This all happened in the last 30 mins before submitting the log to you, so between 15:00 and 15:30 on my local PC time.

I did quite clearly say it was within 30 mins of submitting that post, and my post has a date and time on it

But to repeat. Today's date is 20th March 2017
The time was between 15:00 and 15:30 Spanish time ...... or within 30 minutes of submitting that post

We would never have relied upon that method of determination of the date and time especially being we do not know what the time zone is.

We are looking at the Trade Activity Log now.

The reason for the problem is that the Rithmic system did not provide those open orders when they were requested so Sierra Chart internally indicated they were canceled:

Next time you see this, select this command about 2 times 10 seconds apart and see if the orders get restored:
Trade Menu: Refresh Trade Data From Service (Trade menu)

We really would have to ask Rithmic about this. We do not know why their system did not provide the orders. It is not a problem we normally hear about with Rithmic.

We tried to reproduce the problem but we could not.

We think we know what the problem could be in your case.

You are running an older version of Sierra Chart and the version you are running might be using an older version of the Rithmic API and you could be experiencing some problems related to order IDs due to an integer overflow.

Immediately update with Help >> Download Current Version.

We have confirmed that you are running Sierra Chart versions which are affected by order ID issues when using Rithmic due to limitations of the older Rithmic API software.

This must be the cause of the problem. As we said, update immediately. You should have been receiving an update notice for months now.

I HAVE UPDATED AND IT HAS MADE NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER

I completely lost my order on the DOM and CHART and when I tried to close (flatten) the position it said it could not

My position went into a $100 loss because I couldn't flatten it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to go into the rithmic trader software, which takes time, and find and close the order that way

Your software is extremely dangerous.
I'm going to have to consider another piece of software for order entry.
I'll ask Top Step Trader what options they have

I tried "refresh trade data from service" and it didn't work

The new log file for today is attached.
All the orders for CLK7 disappeared.
I had to go into the Rithmic control panel to cancel working orders, because I didn't know where my stops/limits were

This mainly happened in the last 30 minutes, between 12:00 and 12:30 Spanish time

The problem is not within the Sierra Chart.

At this point, we are recommending discontinuing use of Rithmic.

If you cannot do that, then discontinue use of Sierra Chart. We do not want to be blamed for problems which are not ours. Posts like this are very annoying to us when we have no control over this kind of an issue. Our software is very high quality and very reliable. A problem like this should not exist but it exists because of an issue with the Rithmic software/system.

We do not favor the use of Rithmic. We recommend CQG or CTS instead.

Once again the problem resides with the Rithmic software. Not with Sierra Chart.

We want to confirm the problem to make absolutely certain it is not an issue within Sierra Chart. Although we are quite certain about this though.

The attached screenshot shows a picture of the Rithmic bridge program. Every time you select Trade >>Refresh Trade Data from Service you will see a line indicating the number of open orders.

How many open orders are indicated at the time you see the orders disappear? And how many open orders are you instead actually expecting?

I'll get back to you with the information you asked for

Another awful situation occurred today with Sierra Chart DOM

I have a trade on with a stop and limit
I wanted to get out of the trade early, so I hit 'flatten'
All that did was delete my stop and limit, but left the trade live !!!

So the market when massively against me, past where my stop originally was !!

So at a time when I wanted to urgently get out of the market, your DOM made things massively worse, by removing my stop, and not closing the trade !!!!!!

Follow the instructions here and provide us the requested details:
Trade Activity Log Analysis: Support Assisted Trade Activity Log Analysis

We will need the latest Trade Activity Log file as you previously provided. We will explain what happened.

You can skip the part about the additional cost of the analysis.

Please do not come to conclusions as to what the problem is. We will look at the Trade Activity Log and explain what happened.

The potential this was actually a problem within Sierra Chart, is next to 0%. There is some other reason, and we will explain it.

I will obtain the other information you requested in due course

I have attached the trading log, as it just happened again, between 14:00 and 14:17 Spanish time

I have two long positions with limits and stops on CLK7

The chart said "historical download complete", and around the same time my order completely disappeared from the chart
Everything was gone, the position, and the limits/stops
After a few minutes the order appeared again on the chart, but the stops/limits never came back (but they are live on the rithmic control panel)

This is a terrible situation !

When I first had sierra chart a few years ago, there was no problem
Now it happens every single time. I have changed nothing my PC is the same, and I still use Rithmic

We are going to contact Rithmic about the problem.

We are also extending your Sierra Chart usage time by another two weeks because of the issue even though we are quite confident this is a Rithmic issue. But that really is beside the point.

We need to get the Rithmic log file from you because Rithmic is going to ask for it. Could you please attach the following file:
