I'm experiencing significant latency this morning. i'd like to find out if it is network related, or software.

i ran a speed test to speedtest.net. Ping was 15ms, download was 122Mb, upload was 22Mb, all seem to be good numbers though i wish the ping time was a little lower.

How can i test Sierra to see if the latency is due to the software - perhaps too many charts, too many studies .....?

I confirm same problems. No cpu or network problems on my side. EUREX data is strongly delayed and CME Globex as well.

For the record both of you are using completely different data feeds.

The first user is using CQG, the second user is using the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed.

We are looking at the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed at this time.

There is nothing we can do about the CQG data feed. Refer to help topic 4:

If you are using the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed, let us know what symbol you are having a problem with and how much the delay is.

We need specific details.

I experience most delays with GG of the EUREX. I am only able to compare with InteractiveBrokers' data speed. I do not see any issue with IB's feed, the data updates are normal. But the SC data feed seems to be behind for up to 5-10 seconds than it catches somehow IB prices, but after a while the feed and updates get stuck again and than I only see a data snapshot every few seconds.

Similar issue occurs with CL and ZS.
I use 3 chartbooks, each of them 2 charts with number bars and range type chart. No indicators. Chart update interval is set to 100ms. But changing it to higher value does not improve anything.

You are correct, i'm using CQG. I've also reached out to my broker and asked them to check with CQG for data issues.

I've also gone through help topic 30. my data files have never been compressed, but i was not seeing a tremendous processor load (7-8%) during this latency. So although my data files appear to be large (some 1.2GB), their size doesn't appear to be affecting CPU usage.

How big is too big for these data files? I will compress them if I need to, but I'd like to know what "too big" is?

At this point, this could be some networking issue and not a problem on our server.

At least in regards to CL and ZS.

The 2 users who we have reporting a problem are both in Germany.

Our logging does show at times about a 6 second delay with GGH17. Based on our analysis the origin of this is on the Barchart side.

We are still looking into this.

In regards to post #2 and 5 above, our conclusion at this point is that this is not an issue on our server. Instead a network issue somewhere on your side. The only other report we have a problem is from Germany.

We have now extensively looked at this for about an hour and we see no indication that the problem is on our server other than a few second delay with EUREX symbol GG. This delay is occurring on the Barchart side. In about two weeks will be switching to a different EUREX data feed which should eliminate this kind of issue.

We will respond to post #6 in a couple of minutes.

This is not a problem at all. This does not cause any kind of real-time data latency issues. There is no need to do any compression. Compression only helps when the chart data is being loaded from the data file.
