I have tried many ways just to create an alert as to when Close = / Crossover(s) Point of Control sub graph in the Volume BY Price Study. And have not been able to do it.

Can you please suggest a way to do this differently?

This is subgraph number two. So this is identified by SG2 in an Alert Condition formula.

I know that it still won't trigger despite crosses.

I was wondering if I should volume value area study instead?

A good test as to its inaccessibility is -
if you try to seek it with a Text Display for Study - it cannot pull POC information from Vol By Price Study.

I even tried Study Subgraph Absolute and Sudy OHLC and they still were not able to pull that information from Vol By Price Study.

Do you see the Point of Control values when using the Chart Values tool:
Chart Drawing Tools: Chart Values/Crosshair

You should. We tested this and there is no problem.

No I do not see any Point of Control on the Tool Bar.
See image below for the Volume By Price Study.

Besides, my problem is not if it shows up on the Chart Values Tool.

I am saying that it is inaccessible on all the below studies via reference to idx.sg2, as you suggested earlier -

Study Subgraph Absolute Value
Study Overlay - OHLC
Inaccesible when set an alert to it - which is the goal here. All I want is if the close - POC - it should alert me. That is it. And that is not happening.

Please, will appreciate help.

Thanks.

We made no reference to a Tool Bar.

There is no image attachment.

Besides, my problem is not if it shows up on the Chart Values Tool.
This is directly relevant to the issue. 100 percent.

You have set the study to hide its Study Subgraph values from the Values Windows. Refer to this page for instructions to display them:

I see POC in the chart values window but they are calling out to be zero.
And that is the problem.

It gets read as zero value even when the alert is enabled, which alert simply tries to compare it against the close.

The Value Area and Point of Control Subgraphs are not calculated when using the Volume by Price study on the TPO Profile Chart. This is explained here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/VolumeByPrice.php#ProgrammaticallyAccessingVolumeAtPriceData

You will need to use a standard chart.

This is not TPO - this is Vol by Price study on TPO.
Besides, I am saying I can see it in the chart marked and it is calculating. It just is not picked up to be able to compare it against the Close/Last price. If you saw the image I last sent - the pink lines are the point of control subgraphs. So, not sure what do you mean it is not calculated?

Please help!

The Value Area and Point of Control Subgraphs are not calculated or filled in when using the Volume by Price study on the TPO Profile Chart.

So, if I got rid of TPO and just had Vol By Price - will it then work?

Yes. Or just use another chart without a TPO Profile Chart study.

This worked for the conversation but not for the purpose.

See image below -

For instance, in an attempt to compare Close to any POC touch (Crossover or equals) alert trigger, below are the problems -

1. ID2.SG2[-1], when referenced as such - it reads the relevant poc for the previous bar (NOT THE PREVIOUS POC LEVEL). In that the space available to enter so many arguments where I can go back at least 10 days worth of POC check for the trigger will generate as many as 60 comparisons, twice each for crossover and equal check triggers. And the Alert Condition note space IN ANY STUDY has space to accommodate only 6 such triggers.
For instance each argument will in the least be
OR(CROSSOVER(C,ID2.SG2[4]),C=ID2.SG2[-4])

2. I cannot use daily bars since - 1. I want regular trading sessions POC only; 2. Even if I use it - daily histroical data, by default includes information for over night sessions. And hence intra day data only.

I wish there was a way to reference the POC with [-1] - not for the last bar but for the last poc level using intra day charts.
Unless you have another way to suggest?

All I want is to compare Close with POC levels going back at least 10 days. Can I?

Create daily bars with Intraday data:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SessionTimes.php#DaySessionOnlyDaily

Also this does not make sense:
ID2.SG2[4]

It makes no sense to reference data forward when it does not exist.

I meant -4 and not +4.
Obviously I am referencing backward to compare the ongoing close to any POC in the past and hence negative 4 - it was an error.

I am very close on this but still not there quite - please if you can help here.
See image below -
http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1474987366545.png

This is an intra day Daily chart with Volume Value Area Study marking POC in pink on each bar with 1 day referenced back meaning each day bar that has pink dash on it represents the POC from previous day.

That said, a simple alert that I want is it should background yellow every time close = POC going back 7 days (that is the most argument code it will accommodate in the Alert Condition.

With this code below - it is background coloring all the bars. Question is why so?
OR(
CROSSOVER(C,ID1.SG1),C=ID1.SG1,
CROSSOVER(C,ID1.SG1[-1]),C=ID1.SG1[-1],
CROSSOVER(C,ID1.SG1[-2]),C=ID1.SG1[-2],
CROSSOVER(C,ID1.SG1[-3]),C=ID1.SG1[-3],
CROSSOVER(C,ID1.SG1[-4]),C=ID1.SG1[-4],
CROSSOVER(C,ID1.SG1[-5]),C=ID1.SG1[-5],
CROSSOVER(C,ID1.SG1[-6]),C=ID1.SG1[-6],
CROSSOVER(C,ID1.SG1[-7]),C=ID1.SG1[-7]
)

Especially if you see the blue arrow - that bar touched neither its own bar (which is POC of its previous day) nor did it cross or equal the POC of the bar before and yet the background color is yellow. Not sure why would it do that?

Please, will appreciate this help!

This is something not working right. Not seeking a favor.
To look into why something is not working as it is supposed to - you are not directing me to an outside paid 3rd party contractor. huh!

We definitely do not believe this is the case. And we would require a paid deposit ahead of time for us to look into this.

Please understand, that this is simply just not part of our support offering. Customers have to be willing to pay for additional help like this.

We have already gone out of our way to provide support here when even this entire thread is generally outside the scope of our support. Also you do not even have a direct paid account with us.
