Why are simulated trade positions going flat with 3 sec of trade?

I am new to SC, and in my trial period. I'm learning the software while linked to my IB paper trading account. I have turned off SC simulated trading mode, so that trades are passed to the IB paper trade account. When I execute a trade via the SC chart the trade execution appears on both the SC chart and the IB screen. The trade execution labels appear on the chart and remain. The trade position initially appears in the chart trade window - showing the pos and P&L - but then the position shows as Flat within 2 sec. It is not really flattening the position as it remains in the IB window. Any insight you can provide on why it would do this would be helpful.

This is a typical Interactive Brokers problem.

ok, I updated to most current ver of SC 1415, but problem still persists. I see the FAQ says that there's nothing further that SC can do, and that the suggested option is to switch from IB to another broker. Given that I've been with IB for many years with satisfactory performance, and am evaluating SC - I don't see making a change. Before I shift my interests to MultiCharts or NT, I just want to confirm with you that you're punting on this?

That particular section talks about more than just simply updating. Also updating in most cases is not going to matter because 99.99 percent of the time an issue like this is going to be on the side of Interactive Brokers.

So do you see the Position displayed on the Trade >> Trade Orders and Positions >> Positions tab at the time you see the position disappear?

Did you also contact Interactive Brokers about this?

You will need to contact Interactive Brokers about this and find out why they are not sending Trade Position data updates. They will need to resolve the problem for you. They probably will request the log files:

The other thing you can do for an immediate solution is to use the Order Fill Calculated Position:

Until IB resolves this for you.

For the record, here is another incident (out of more than hundreds of incidents of this) of this:
Error: "Synchronized Internal Position to current Service Position. Current Position qua..

And in the end, it was an issue on the TWS side. That was verified through careful TWS log analysis.

This is an excellent example of the very badly and problematic and unreliable design of the Interactive Brokers API. This is why we say this on the Interactive Brokers page:

We only recommend the use of Interactive Brokers for experienced traders, those who are technically competent with computers and software, and understand the source of technical problems. The large length of this page confirms the complexity and issues that you will face when using Interactive Brokers. Interactive Brokers does provide many advantages and can be a good choice for many traders, but it is important that you are aware of potential problems and are willing to accept the consequence of them.

Even though you may see a particular problem in Sierra Chart when using Interactive Brokers and possibly do not see it in another program, still means the problem is on the Interactive Brokers side. The reason has to do with differences in the way that Sierra Chart may interact with the API and it may be encountering particular problems with TWS or Interactive Brokers which the other programs may not be encountering because the interaction could be different. Sierra Chart will interact with TWS in the most reliable and redundant way.

Support policy: Support from Sierra Chart for technical issues encountered when using Interactive Brokers, is within the discretion of Sierra Chart. There are some complex technical issues that a user may encounter when using Interactive Brokers, that can have various causes which are on the side of Interactive Brokers and therefore are outside of the control of Sierra Chart. Therefore these will be hard for us to understand and assist with because they are not within Sierra Chart and the Interactive Brokers system is a highly complex system with many reasons why things can go wrong. Therefore, we may decline support for some issues reported to us involving Interactive Brokers. Be aware of this when making a decision as to whether you should be using Interactive Brokers.

There are hundreds and hundreds of cases of this.

And yet Interactive Brokers cannot even solve this. It is completely and utterly ridiculous. We have absolutely no problem publicly slamming them over this kind of garbage.
