Having trouble with an ASX symbol and SC historical data feed

When trying to load SLF.AX, I get no data, it forcibly tries to use IB. SLF-STK-ASX would work fine if SC would try to download anything past a year - which it won't. So I've been trying to make it work with the historical data feed. A ticker like AAPL works fine, it uses equities.us and does the right thing. SLF.AX is listed on the historical data symbols page (https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChart_RealTime_And_Historical_Symbols.php&SymbolsPage=Stocks&ID=1#ASX) and should work but it doesn't.

Not understanding what I'm doing wrong here. The IB service is setup to use SC historical data as well.

There is no symbol mapping for the Australian exchange symbols with Interactive Brokers.

Also in all of these cases you have been using Interactive Brokers. Not the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service.

There is no symbol mapping for the Australian exchange symbols with Interactive Brokers.

And I'm not looking for a symbol mapping for IB. If I wanted to use IB I would have used SLF-STK-ASX, but I don't. I want to use the SC Historical Data Service which I'm paying for as part of my service package. The same service that explicitly says it offers historical data for the ASX exchange (Sierra Chart Historical Data Service: Included Markets) and the documentation says right there the symbol is SLF.AX. That isn't working because SC isn't mapping the ASX exchange correctly. The reason it isn't an issue with TSX stocks is because it *is* mapping them correctly.

Also in all of these cases you have been using Interactive Brokers. Not the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service.

This is not accurate at all. Look right here at the log. I have *DISCONNECTED* entirely from IB within SC, deleted data and redownloaded for symbol XRE.TO (a TSX symbol which *does* work):

The above is NOT using IB whatsoever, it is using the SC historical data service (aka Barchart in this case) correctly as the log clearly showed. The issue here is entirely about why ASX symbols are not working as they should be, just as they work with TSX and just as they work with equities.us symbols. It has nothing to do with IB.

Here's another one: completely disconnected from IB, and IUKP.LS loading LSE data just as it should be:

Therefore, just use the SLF.AX symbol with the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service and it will work.

So you need to set the primary service in Sierra Chart to "SC Data - All Services".

No it won't work. I keep telling you the symbols are not mapped at all, are you recognizing that?

This is an SC problem and the problem is while you have surrogate/wildcard mappings for TSX and LSE, the mappings for ASX in GlobalSymbols.xml are completely missing.

Adding these entries (atleast for 3 char ASX symbols) completely fixes the problem for both IB mappings and non-IB mappings:

<settings>
<service-code>ib</service-code>
<symbol>***-STK-ASX</symbol>
<historical-chart-symbol>***.AX</historical-chart-symbol>

<currency-value-per-tick>0.01</currency-value-per-tick>
<error-filtering>true</error-filtering>
<default-order-quantity>100</default-order-quantity>
</settings>
<settings>
<service-code>ib</service-code>
<symbol>???.AX</symbol>

Your statements are not making sense. Previously you said this:
And I'm not looking for a symbol mapping for IB. If I wanted to use IB I would have used SLF-STK-ASX, but I don't.

And there is not a single user who is going to have any trouble getting Australian Exchange market data from the SC Data-All Services service at this time with no changes from us. Any user right now can open either a Historical or Intraday chart for SLF.AX when using that service.

If you want to use Interactive Brokers, this is different. However you said this:
This is not accurate at all. Look right here at the log. I have *DISCONNECTED* entirely from IB within SC,

But we misinterpreted what you were saying. We thought you had switched to the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service. Instead you disconnected from Interactive Brokers but that does not mean anything to Sierra Chart with market data requests. It changes nothing.

We will add similar Symbol Settings for Interactive Brokers for these symbols that you have added.

Nah what I'm saying is there is NO mapping for any ???.AX symbols in GlobalSymbolSettings.xml at all. I can't see how anyone could get any of it to work regardless of the service because there's no mappings for it.

I *tried* to use it with SC Data-All Services (meaning I switched my data/trade service to that [which BTW, isn't the most convenient method]) and I could still not resolve this symbol. How could SC possibly work with SLF.AX when the symbol table doesn't even have anything in it for .AX?

This will still work because the final default route for historical data requests is to the Barchart historical data server.
